    The Registered Products page for True Image 2009 has changed somewhat. A new ISO file shows up (see image below). My first thought was that this might be the Rescue Media ISO but the file size doesn't agree with the ISO created with the program. Opening with WinZip Pro zero files are displayed. Burning to a CD also fails. I've tried twice using two different brands of CD's with the same results. My question then is this, what is this thing (file:TrueImage2009_s_en.iso)?

    I see files when I look at the downloaded ISO file using UltraISO. It seems to be the "alternate loader" version (based on ISOLINUX). If so, then this is the version that Acronis Support has always had to supply because Media Builder can't create it.

    I find your response very interesting, thanks for writing. I'm still not sure if it's something I might want. Don't know what it would do for me.

    Edit: I tried ImgBurn since I have it. The CD was created and when viewed in Windows all of the files were hidden as before. Thought I would carry this one step further. Leaving the CD in the drive I re-booted. The PC booted into the Acronis recovery display and looked like the display seen using the Rescue Media CD created using the the application in Windows. So it looks like it works. I then tried to add additional files to the CD and I could not. Noted that the Safe Mode is not included as an option. Although it worked I see no advantage in using this approach. It's my opinion that if Acronis is agreeable to posting the ISO on the registered products page (and apparently they are), this file should be removed and replaced by the ISO that is created from within the application itself (including the safe mode option). I realize that individually installed serial numbers may be a factor, don't know.

    Thanks again,
    Bruce

    Hello all,

    Thank you for using Acronis True Image

    I can confirm that MudCrab is correct, the possibility to download an ISOLINUX version of Acronis Bootable Rescue Media is added. To have an opportunity to download the file you should register the license under your account, and the respective ISO file will be available for download. The file is tied to the serial number, for example, if you register Acronis True Image Home 2009 license, you will get the access to the ISOLINUX version of Acronis True Image Home 2009 Rescue Media.

    You can learn more on how to register the license here

    One may need to create a bootable rescue CD using a special ISO image in the following cases:

    - Acronis Loader cannot be started;
    - Acronis Loader cannot start the Linux kernel;
    - Hardware is not recognized, and an updated ISO with newer is needed;
    - The Linux kernel must be loaded in a special mode;
    - The bootable CD should boot directly into the program passing through the selection menu.

    You can learn more on how to burn an ISO file to a CD/DVD disk here

    Thank you.
