Exchange Email Security and SPAM filter

Hi,
Is it true that ESET NOD32 Antivirus for Microsoft Exchange doesn't include a SPAM filter? A customer would like to purchase AV for exchange but together on the same box they want a spam filter. What Microsoft or ESET product can be used as a SPAM filter running on the same server as Exchange?

Hello,

The current version for ESET NOD32 Antivirus for Microsoft Exchange does not include a spam filter. ESET Mail Security for Linux does, but would need to be run on a separate server.

If I need to run this on a seperate linux server does it mean that my whole email system needs to be transfered to a linux system or can the emails go through the linux server, be scanned for SPAM by the linux server and then forwarded to the exchange server to be scanned for viruses and be delivered to the clients finally?

Internet > Linux box for SPAM control > Exchange Server for AV Scanning > Delivered to client by Exchange Server.....is this the flow?

If you are running Exchange 2007 it actually have a spamfilter, but it isn't enabled by default. Either enable it in your server (Hub Trasport role if you are running several servers) with the Exchange management shell.

Set-TransportServer -Identity 'SERVERNAME' -AntiSpamAgentsEnabled $True

Or deploy a edge edge server where it is active by default, but it require a extra server.

Do you know if ESET Mail Security will run on Fedora Core 11?

Exchange 2003 has inbuilt spam capability. I would use ORF enterprise by vamsoft, and its only $239 per server to.

I use it alongside Nod32 for exchange and it works very well.

If I use pop3 connectors on my exchange server to download the emails from my ISP's email server, will this software from vamsoft also check for spam on the pop3 emails?

I dont believe it does.... as it works via the smtp Virtual servers.
