Activation error.

Hello, I recently bought a NOD32 OEM CD from newegg.com
It installed fine, but when I tried to activate my product with the serial number on the back I got this message:
There was an error registering your serial number. Please contact support.

Can anyone help me? This is my first time installing, so it's not like the serial number has been used before.

If I need to post my serial number I will, but I would prefer to keep it private.

Have you visited the Activate ESET Software link and filled out the info required. They will send you a user name and password.

What is the point of CD registration?

After purchasing your ESET Smart Security or ESET NOD32 Antivirus CD, it is important that you register the software in order to receive a valid username and password. Although the CD will allow the software to be installed on your computer, you will not be able to receive virus signature updates without the username and password properly entered into the License Details window (Update → Username and Password setup...).

How could I have an activation error if I haven't tried to activate..
Anyways, I HAVE tried I HAVE filled out all the information correctly, and I get the error listed above. Please make note of the fact that the error is neither a "this serial number is already in use" or a "this serial number is not valid"

Good idea!
Bad news is you need to have a username to use customer support, and seeing as my problem is getting a username, I don't think that following that link would be much help

One could assume like I did that your use of the activation word could have meant inputing your info in the program. With the lack of info provided one can only attempt to assist by guessing what a poster is attempting to say sometimes. Anyway, perhaps your issue is best handled by Eset support and wish you well
