Hey there,
I'm fairly new to this forum, but I've used Acronis for a few years now (have always loved Acronis ), and ran into an issue that I think is worth a response from the Acronis tech folks.Basically, we use the 'Acronis True Image Echo Enterprise Server with Universal Restore' to write (via ftp) images of all the systems we have in our company, and we had a Windows 2003 server to store the images on. However, due to the growth of our company, we've had to make some changes, and needed to utilize this image server for another purpose. With that, we had a 5TB 'LaCie 5big' box in stock, and because it's a Linux box, it would not ever be re-allocated into our production environment (as it's primarily windows), and as it's a 5TB box, it was the perfect choice for storing all our images, but here's the issue(s) ... We DO HAVE the 'ATIEwUR' current build (8206), as well as a couple of older builds (8115 & 8163), and all of them are able to read/write to our Windows server, BUT, only the 8163 build is able to read/write to the LaCie box , and even when it does, we get these errors - "The archive is corrupted", followed by the "Backup archive creation has been completed with errors." (FYI - we get these when the validation runs, as we use the Validate option when creating ALL our images). As for the other builds (8115 & 8206), both of them give us the user/password window when we ftp to the new LaCie box, but that's all. After we enter the creds, the login window closes, and that's it. The system actually hangs (can't click Cancel, doesn't respond to ctrl-alt-delete, etc.) and goes no further than that. We end up having to do a hard shutdown (pressing the power button until it shuts down). We retried and even left it sit for over 2 hours JIC, and still nothing ever happened. Yet when we perform the exact same steps with the 8163 build, we immediately see ALL the folders on the LaCie, and are able to read/write to them (with the mentioned errors mind you). (BTW - Yes - we've set the credentials to the LaCie box to have FULL permissions to everything.) I've looked thru the forums for a couple of days and didn't find anything to indicate a known issue between Acronis and a LaCie box, so we would really appreciate some investigation/feedback with this. Thanks in advance. |

Not that I can offer you a fix, but I have found the quickest response from Acronis for corporate customers is to use live chat. I had an issue the other day with ATIEW and they connected to my computer remotely to see my problem and resolved the issue. I have seen some differences myself between builds 8163 & 8206. Build 8206 was an improvement for me, but the "Computers Near Me" disappeared when connecting to the Agent for remote backups. Build 8345 was just released, so I'm prepping to test this now. The revision notes indicate some fixes regarding what I encountered. Good Luck!

Hey jbswift,
Thanks for the reply, although I'm thinking the 8345 build may not apply for us as we've only purchased the 'ATIEEwUR' product (forgot the second E in my initial post ), we didn't get the 'ATIEW' product, so the 8206 build is the only newest available one for it that we've found (unless that newest build isn't listed, and/or I just can't find it on their site )I still think there may be some issue with the way the builds work, or maybe our current .iso burnt disk has errors and that's causing the issues (wouldn't be the first time ), so we're gonna burn a couple additional copies, and see where that goes, but I do know there are some other forums that have mentioned issues with Acronis-vs-Linux boxes, but they're mostly solved with updating permissions on the Linux box, and that's definitely not the issue for us.Anyway, if you can let me know where that newer build is, and if it is for the 'ATIEE' product, and we'll jump on that as well. Thanks |

Hi Phillyidol,
I started testing ATIEW build 8345 today and it is riddled with bugs. I did a live chat this morning with Acronis to make them aware of the problems. Now I log in and see all corporate builds were pulled and the old 8206 is back up. The last two builds I tested were pretty solid, but I'm glad they pulled this one. The agent is broken for remote recovery and the rescue media locks up when typing a name for a backing up or selecting a file for recovery. Most of the time, all corporate builds are updated at the same time. As long as you register, then you can download the latest. |

Hello Phillyidol,
Thank you for using Acronis Corporate Products To localize the issue could you please do the following? Please create a backup file of the same computer as usual and place the archive to an internal or external hard drive. After that please copy the backup file via FTP to а folders on the LaCie drive and let us know the results Please split the backup files to 2 GB volumes. Thank you. -- Oleg Lee
