Default New firewall module 1047 released

Hello,
a new firewall module 1047 is currently being distributed to all v3 and v4 users automatically (the update will be announced by "The program modules have been updated" message). The new firewall module has been installed by several hundred thousands users worldwide and no problems were reported.

Should you encounter any problems stemming from the new build, let us know.

Firewall module updated to 1047. Vista SP-2 is now installed and NO problems to report (so far). Great, thanks.

I've been using the 1047 for several weeks now on both XP SP3 and Windows 7 RC 7100 (x32, x64)

Worked pretty well on both systems.

Had to make a handul more of custom rules when used on Windows 7, to be able to see the other systems on my network, otherwise it worked fine.

I've been running ESS V3 for quite some time now on WinXP SP3.

With the new firewall update i am unable to surf the web.

TCP Flooding appears in the logs.

I can only visit sites that are in the DNS Cache. If I do ipconfig /flushdns I cannot browse any sites.

In order to surf the web again I had to uninstall the product, I am thinking of going back to NOD32 AV only with Free ZoneAlarm.

This update wasn't working for me.

I am on ADSL with a AVM Fritz!Box 7170 WLAN Annex A as a router.

Kind regards, Glamdring.

Strange, but when I just checked my Personal firewall module is: 1048 (20090623).
However I do have "enable test mode" checked so this must be a beta version, I will see how this works. Had no problems with version 1047 before when in beta.

Have started to notice lots of 'Packet blocked by active defense (IDS)' log entries with the latest fw engine.

Anyone else have the same problem?

Every now and then, when I try to load my homepage (Google), I get a page cannot be displayed error and that coincides with the log entry and ip address.

Such a shame.

the turnaround that I tested was (with ESS product v3 and v4):

1- disable temporary personal firewall component;
2- update product;
3- enable again personal firewall component;

If you get the same behavior you need to uninstall the product and do a fresh install of the product (reinstalling the product may put the drivers and network filters in the correct order)

Thumbs up Re: New firewall module 1047 released

I have re activated the ESET firewall when I received version 1052 of the firewall module through an update and my networks are accessable again with the firewall in automatic mode.

Previously no matter what I tried I could not get the firewall feature to work properly with Win 7 so I disabled it and went with the windows firewall and the antivirus/antispam features of ESS.

Operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate.

All seems to be working ok for now.

1052 is just another step of getting closer to fully compatible with Win 7. PLUS Windows 7's official release date is oct 22, 2009. After that NOD32's release should work with win 7 due the fact that win 7 could still make changes until then.

Thx.

I can't confirm such behaviour as I am in the full automatic mode without users rules.

I prefer the old Interactive method, the Auto was not avail not so long ago (think only in v4).

I did not like it on testing even though it works well for other vendors FW's.

cssoz is there really a version 4.0.647 or is that just a typo in your signature for 4.0.467?

Those of us with test mode ("enable pre-release updates") on have firewall 1054, so I guess that there will be a new release of ESS soon with this version or later incorporated.
A changelog would be most welcome.
