Default How bad NOD32 when expired?

My NOD32 Business get expired.
Extending will be done next week.

How bad NOD32 when it is get expired?
Is it still monitoring files and connections or it is totally useless now and my computers at high risk?

i think it should be working albeit with whatever were the last av definition updates. protection wise, the sooner it is updated the better
