I've got Acronis TI 2009 and I'm wondering if there is a simpler way to use the file shredder utility. Hunting, pecking and selecting through the entire file system is such a pain that I find myself not using it. I'm hoping there's a shortcut I missed.
Thanks! (Vista Home Premium) |

Hello operaflute,
Thank you for using Acronis True Image Home 2009 Can you please clarify what do you mean “a simpler way to use”. The only way to use File Shredder is the one described in chapter 15 of the user guide To run the folders/files shredder, select Tools -> File Shredder in the main program menu. This starts File Shredder Data Destruction Wizard, which will guide you through the steps required for permanently destroying the selected files and folders. Best regards, -- Dmitry Nikolaev

I suppose the only way to make this task easier is to keep the files you need/plan to shred in the same folder.

I guess I was looking for drag and drop functionality, or the ability to right click on a file and "send to shredder," or something similar. I find the current method of having to hunt and peck through file structure every time to find the one you want to shred file fairly cumbersome. "Wizards" as a rule, can be handy, but are a pain to use for something you do often -too many clicks to get the task done, and no way to customize the process so you don't have to repeat it each time you want to run an identical task.
Additionally, it would be nice to be able to access the shredder without having to load up True Image, since that does take a moment to process and anazlyze the partitions. All in all, I'd like shredding should be a two click process, not a two minute one. Guess this should go in the wish list. Last edited by operaflute : May 17th, 2009 at 11:30 AM. |
