With the latest version of True Image 2009 home the "safe mode" option is missing when creating the rescue media.
Any idea? Thanks. |

It's no longer included in the program you buy/download. You have to register with Acronis, then log into your account in order to get the Safe Mode module.

Thanks - what do you mean by go to the account (have not yet registered) and get the option? Would it be a kind of "update" to download to get it or how this works?
By the way, the same problem with Acronis/Seagate DiscWizard which is free. |

Neven:
I just bought a boxed TI 2009 with a CD disc included for installing. Starting the install disc a second time reveals a choice to install some extra Acronis files. One is the "Safe" mode for building a boot CD. After installing the Safe Boot file you can go to "create a boot CD" and you will see both the Full & the Safe modes to choose, build a CD and you can then boot from either. The bad news is that when I did a test restore from the Safe mode, my screen went black when I clicked "proceed" with the restore. The restore didn't happen. Fungus |

Fungus: I have been using TI7.0 for years and everything was fine, no reason to upgrade. As my new desktop and the notebook have SATA disks and 7.0 didnt work with them, I downloaded the 2009 test version.
Why I am asking about safe mode: on the sata deskop the rescue CD (full mode) boots but the Acronis menu freezes - no mouse, no KB reaction. On the sata notebook it works, .tlbs are found but I got suspicious by the desktop case and didnt start any test recovery. Now you made me even more unsure, although your bad experience is with safe mode. I dont want to risk and eventually get backup running with later unbootable computer. Anyway I am hanging now and am about to test Paragon Drive Backup. Pity, 7.0 with IDE was reliable. One more: on both desktop and notebook the F11 to enter parameter doesnt work either. All of above same with Seagate/Acronis DiscWizard. Thank you anyway, Neven |
