Default based on your knowledge...

Okay.. sorry for posting so many questions in the past. However, I am destined to find out the truth about F-Secure's scanning engines and the quality of them.

Okay as far as I know F-secure uses 3 scanning engines in one module. These scanning engines are : F-prot/AVP and Orion.

Now, do you believe that F-Secure is made stronger by using these three scanning engines as opposed to just running the individual AV such as F-prot or AVP?

What are your beliefs? I am willing to buy F-Secure and pay for the extra amounts, so long as it proves to be secure and worth the money. From my past experiences KAV has been too slow for both on-demand and realtime when scanning archives. F-Secure has run perfectly on my OS, which is win2k.

FPM, I'm afraid you are going to have to wait until the new version of F-Secure has been tested for awhile by some reliable virus testers such as VirusBulletin and the Univ. of Hamburg. The only alternative is to get a bunch of new viruses and test yourself, but I would not advise that. I have tested F-Secure on several of the newer viruses and F-Secure has caught every one, even the packed ones.
I love KAV, but like you say, it is slow. I switched to the new version of F-Secure and I feel perfectly protected. I know it has a version of KAV, but I also know from past experience, it did not come up with the same test results as KAV 4.0. I do not know why.
I personally believe if you want the faster version, you will not be sorry for spending the money on F-Secure.
Since F-Secure does not have a mail scanning feature, as such, I also use a program called M@ildefense. I am very pleased with it's performance of watching my email. Even without that, I think F-Secure would still catch anything in the email.
You know, it really boils down to what you are comfortable with. KAV is certainly a winner. It is slow. NOD32 is a winner and fast. It is not much for Trojans though. F-Secure remains an unknown since it is a new version and needs some testing done. Like I said, I'm putting my faith in it.

What kind of pizza do you like? My favorite is hand tossed pepperoni, with LOTS of pepperoni.

Yes. Every engine has its own advantage. The strength of F-Secure AV lays in multiplied engine scan. That was the whole point…

If you’re encountering no problems with F-Secure and can afford an extra $$$ , I don’t see the reason to not purchase F-Secure!
