Default Have I to decrypt to upgrade TrueCrypt?

Hiya,

I am using TrueCrypt 5.0a I want to upgrade to the latest version. Do I have to decrypt the hard drive first?

Cheers!

No. Truecrypt will update the bootloader. There might be some benefits to re-encrypting, but I have not done so, and have not come across any problems.

You might consider making a new restore cd just for the sake of doing so, but I don't know if that's really necessary.
