Default My Computer backup

I did a "MY Computer" backup a year or so ago. I have added many apps since then. I used an external usb drive to create the backup on. Can I just do another "my computer" back using the wizard again. And will it just completely overwrite the backup that is out there or do I need to do some type of incremental backup. I am using 10.0 Home & windows XP. I prefer the easiest non tech approach.

I have used TI 10 with external Firewire drive for backups.
Doing another backup simply places another archive where you tell it to go. It can be in the same location as your last archive - if there is room for it.

If you cannot boot XP for some reason, you may have a problem if your restore is done from a rescue CD disc and your hard drives are SATA. I solved this by installing TI ver 2009 as free 15 day trial, and making a rescue CD from that. This cd allows me to recover on my SATA computer that has the external firewire drive.

If you restore with XP running, you should have no issues with the external drive.

I don't know if you can install 2009 on the same computer where you are using ver 10, you may lose ver 10 at that time?

You can avoid any risk to overwriting your original backup by either
a. Assigning a different file name to your intended backup archive (recommended)
b. Create a new folder and assign your new backup to the new folder. (also recommended).

I believe you could also benefit by reading my guides listed on line 2 of my signature. Additionally, Acronis offers some tutorials using version 11 as the guide but you would benefit from their concepts.

note: I have used v8-9-10=11-2009 and my ide and SATA drives have been seen by each version of TI.

You would be wiser to make a full backup before installing each new app, so that if the installation goes badly, you have a restore path. Uninstall isn't always successful, and System Restore fails more often than it succeeds. In other words, think in terms of monthly backups at least.

When you create a new backup, you can give it a name such as Notebook-2009-04-29. When you no longer want that backup, you just delete it the same way you would delete a bad photo or an old Word document. Keep backups for a while, so that you have a way to go back several steps if necessary.
