I used to live in Castalla (30k inland from Alicante) and ended up moving here to Brazil because of the exchange rate so I sympathize.

I understand a new issue of the 3.9beta CIS is being put out tomorrow so I may well revisit this one again. Don't quite have the confidence to trust the AV yet so might team it up with Cloud Panda on this spare PC and see how I get on.
