Hi,
I've been using True Image for years to backup and restore my system. I'm currently using True Image Home 11 to backup my C drive every week (Vista business). Yesterday the C: drive died (160 GB). Could not get Vista Business to start anymore. I have only one OS, Vista Business, on that drive. I've unplugged the defective drive, plugged in an old drive (80 GB) I have handy that I know is working fine. My Vista installation actually is around 26 GB. I've used the Rescue disk to boot and could restore the backup image onto the "new" drive. The computer boots. I can see the running worm, the round logo, hear the little music and see the welcome screen. After that I get a black screen with the only the mouse I can drag around... So does that means the backups have to be restored always on the same drive? What if the drive from which the image has been made is out of order? Thanks for any suggestions Vince |

If the boot process on the restored drive got that far, it should have worked - very puzzling. Try disconnecting any usb devices including hubs, card readers etc. reboot and see if that helps. Have you changed any hardware after that Image was made?

Does Windows Safe Mode boot okay?
When you get the black screen, can you press Ctrl-Alt-Del and start the Task Manager?
