Default VistaPE and Acronis TI 11 Confused

Hi,

I have read the forums here and not having made or fully understood VistaPE it looks like that is what I need to enable USB2 and to work with modern motherboard ACHI drives as it appears and I may be corrected that TI still does not provide this support.

I found mudcrab had this as a product in the form of a script and no I don't understand it fully but as I went to investigate it I found it is no longer available. http://themudcrab.com/vistapeguide_scripts.php

Is there an easy way to do this? I am happy to pay and am unsure why I keep buying TI updates in the hope that they have fixed basic issues like this but I only find that they have added often pointless features.

When my drive dies I want to restore NOW, not spend days educating myself on how to work around a known issue with TI since version 8

Thanks

The easiest solution is most likely to use MustangPEBuilder 2 and create the WinPE CD. mustang originally didn't have plugins available for versions of TI other than 2009, but now has plugins for TI 10 and TI 11.

IMHO, you don't need to spend money on mustang's plugins, unless you want to of course

I created a bootable VistaPE CD with the free Acronis TI BartPE plugin, and it works like a charm.

Login to your Acronis account and download it for free.

Just so it's clear, they are not my plugins. The plugins referenced in my guide and in my links are created by mustang and always have been. Whether one considers them a waste of money is up to the individual. Personally, I consider them well worth it.

Secondly, there's a big difference between a "p" and a "b" when it comes to my forum name...

You're somewhat mistaken -- MudCrab did not create these plugins; they were created by Mustang. I am sorry to hear that you feel it is a waste of money to pay someone for their efforts in putting these together and supporting them. You're always welcome to write one yourself and give it away for free, but I certainly won't begrudge someone charging a token amount for their efforts.

Ok it looks like the link in your signature goes to your website but discusses Mustang plug-in mustang stopped in January 2009 but no longer sell that is why I though you wrote them but now if I understand correctly your website links to Mustang?

No idea what you mean by difference between p and b when it comes to forum name. For forum name is MudCrab on my screen, I am sorry if I have misquoted you or don't understand what p & B means.

I came here for help admitting I don't understand this stuff and seems to have upset people, I am sorry for not knowing everything.

As I read it I need to buy Mustangs application then he has some plug-in and I buy his Acronis Plug-in. Mustang will supply more plug-in’s in the future?

What was wrong with Windows PE plug-in’s as a lot of people talk about that, why the custom application to build the PE?

I was hoping to make a Vista PE utility disk with other applications but going down the Mustang path I am limited?

Thanks.

That's correct. I wrote the guide and the links for the plugins to to mustang's website.

I was referring to the typo of the last character of my name in post #3 by tonyseeking (which has already been edited).

No offense taken.

mustang probably will create more plugins and others can also create plugins for his PEBuilder program.

mustang wrote the program to make it easy to create a TI rescue CD.

It depends on what programs you want or need. VistaPE has evolved a lot over the last year and continues to do so. If you want to give VistaPE a try, feel free.

Edited post to correct mixed references between posts by agent86 and tonyseeking. Sorry for any confusion.

Why? The Acronis TI and the free Acronis TI BartPE plugin is all I need to fulfil the objective of backing up and restoring images. I don't need to write any plugins as I already have everything I need when I purchased TrueImage.

Thanks, Mark.

I've edited my post to make that clear. agent86 commented on it and my mind must have jumped back to tonyseeking since I didn't intend for agent86 to say anything about it as it was a reply to tonyseeking's post.

Sorry for any confusion.

Thanks for asking

It seems "truthseeker" made a large reputation for themselves and are very well known. I keep seeing people refer to "truthseeker" a lot.

Ok the software is to make a TI boot disk that uses the PE environment and he wants money for making things easy.

I am not sure why anyone would say it was a rip-off. If you don't want to learn too much and have a life outside computers and make an income then this program is perfect.

Of course if tonyseeking who says it is a rip-off wants to send me a message and do the work for free then I would be more than happy to use his free solution if he does it for me Doesn't seem such a rip-off now does it Tony or maybe you will do it for free and proove me wrong?

I'm one of those forum members that purchased Mustang's PEBuilder for 2009 and it was my voluntary choice in purchasing

As I have stated in previous postings.
Introducing MustangPEBuilder for True Image Home 2009
http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=222284

I find the product useful. It enables the user to do much more than the normal TI functions.
When booted from the Mustang's CD,
I like being able to copy files from any of my internal or external disks to other disks.

I like being able to mount my archives or to use the explore function on these archives.

I like being able to run chkdsk or defrag.

I like being able perform a print screen functions.
If you wish to add more programs, you can do more things. I think Mustang's program charge is a bargain at $9.99 and if the selling price was more, I would have been willing to pay a higher fee. All my IDE & Sata & eSata drives are already recognized by my True Image 9 or 10 or 11 or 2009 REscue CD's so using the Mustang's CD is not a need. I just find the additional benefits useful and beneficial. If you are troubleshooting a problem, it's nice to have these additional functions. It's well written and I recommend its use. I have it as part of my forum signature.
