Hi all,
I don't recall seeing discussions on this one before. A friend of mine is asking me for a good, free windows OCR that should help him read his images and convert to text (what OCR does, like duh). Is anyone familiar with something reasonable, convenient, easy to use, high percentage of correct conversion, solid image processing speed, etc? Regards, Mrk

Best Free OCR , is FreeOCR.NET based on Google Tesseract engine. It uses .NET for GUI.
http://softi.co.uk/freeocr.htm Its sufficient for my infrequent needs. Since its free, you can ask your friend to check it out and see if it fits the bill. Last edited by vijayind : March 24th, 2009 at 10:40 AM. |

I'm surprised someone hasn't created a utility that can leverage the built-in OCR capability of Window's tabletPC feature. If you check using pkgmgr or dism you can see theres a package named WinOCR.
