I have a question... or maybe a Feature Request...
Why does ESET not design into their software ALL of the exclusions as recommended by Microsoft in the DEFAULT settings? There is one exclusion recommended for all Desktop computers, and a whole bunch for servers, depending on the services installed and running. But, I don't see any reason that the installer couldn't detect what version of the OS it is being installed on, and set up these exclusions accordingly. As for servers, just set up ALL of the recommended exclusions, regardless of whether or not the services are installed or the directories even exist. |

Coming from a corporate environment, where policies would override "new" default settings, I'd like to see something in the software (eGUI,RA/Policy) where there is a "set to default" button which does what you suggest.
There was a build of 3.0 where the default messages were inverse of where they should be (like AV warning where update warning should be an visa versa) eSet fixed that in a later build, but because those settings are controlled on the RA, I didn't get that fix. A set to default button would be nice. Or "set to recommended" in the case of exclusions. I understand why they don't do this, though. If virus writers knew that %windir%\softwaredistribution wasn't scanned, then if local user = admin, store your virus there. |
