I think the chance of McAfee is not large because I think it should be a European AV:D , for example, Panda, AVG,etc...

I know what you're saying. But in my opinion even with the added database I think its a bad idea for hitman pro to associate itself with McAfee. McAfee has horrible support and its just as bad as removing viruses and malware. Detection rate is pretty up there I'll give it that but it comes along with high false positives. If they do decide McAfee I'm still going to use hitman pro as I do think its an excellent on demand scanning tool. I just think they would be better off with another vendor.

I just hope it isn't avast!. That's my first opinion scanner, so I don't need it as a second opinion too. :p

It's in there already in GDATA!

    NOD32
    GDATA - BitDefender + Avast
    Prevx
    A-Squared - A-squared + Ikarus
    Avira

I still wonder why they removed Avira
    They're kinda good :D

By BIG vendors i don't think MBAM could be included in that prefix 8:rolleyes:

the 'BIG' vendors are norton, mcafee and trend correct?

the big 3, however, this is probably next followed by Kaspersky.

it wouldn't bother me to see either of those 4 to be introduced in all honestly. :)

Re: Anyone tried out Hitman Pro?

out of the big vendors kaspersky seems to be the most realistic to give out its detections since its done this with other products already, wer as norton, mcaffee and such dont license out ther stuff as far as i know.

but MAN, if MBAM got included, its a done deal, bye bye to all my other scanners, hello Hitman Pro :D :D

100% agree! I have emailed the developers asking if they would consider adding MBAM as a scan engine but the reponse I got from them it didn't seem like they were interested and they felt it wouldn't improve the detection of malware. Unless they changed their minds :D

well tbh, i dont think MBAM wuld risk such a move to license out their product cuz then less peep wuld end up using MBAM and buying it, since not many people use it in realtime compared to on demand.

I'm lucky I did use it in real-time. Previously today, I'd have been heavily infected if not... :doubt: HMP found two files which MBAM didn't detect, so they complement eachother perfectly IMO. :) There were some infected temp-files with weird names, so I could just go there and delete the malicious files. Another scan and I'm all clean on both ends. :D

    @ Triple Helix

I'm sorry I misunderstood your request. My apologies.

I can see only a yellow triangle with a black esclamation mark inside.

    See screenshot attached, please.

    About the Repair Winsock message:
It is displayed when there is a LSP protocol driver in the Winsock LSP chain that no longer exists. This usually causes Internet Connection problems. Malware can use the LSP protocol drivers to intercept all Winsock traffic (network spying). If the malware is removed the LSP chain needs repairing. Hitman Pro offers a free repair of the chain just like Winsock Fix tools provide.

The following article may help (read comments):
    http://www.ghacks.net/2009/07/27/fix-winsock-errors-with-winsock-repair/

The utility they recommend in the article above, is now under the power tools program at: http://www.rizonetech.com/

Otherwise there is a manual method at the command prompt.

Just to add what Saraceno has said and the links posted maybe wait till erikloman sees this and he can give you his solution? Because you already tried to fix and had to restore your system!

Re: Anyone tried out Hitman Pro?

I just wanted to ask; why is the x64 version still at build 90? the x86 version is at 92. Are the changes only for x86 versions?

Also, just out of curiosity, what are the future plans for Hitman Pro?

Re: Anyone tried out Hitman Pro?

Most of the changes (actually already since build 80) have to do with the removal of the TDL rootkit, since x64 operating systems are less vulnerable for rootkits these updates are not necessary.
Next to that the most users are using x86, so that is why they first make new features for that version and later add it to the x64 version.

About upcoming things, read like 1 page back.
Soon they will add another big vendor to the scan cloud (I think Kaspersky, I don't expect Norton or McAfee to step in, and all other big vendors are already in (or it might be Trend Micro?))
Soon they will announce a new feature which has something to do with Avira (I think some kind of realtime protection, maybe the Avira v10 Behavior Blocker?)

I hope erikloman or markloman gives more details soon!

Seems like the hitman pro server has been down since yesterday. I wonder if the scanning is still useful while the server is down.

    @leofelix

This LSP thing is SERIOUS BUG/FALSE POSITIVE.

Do you have Internet Download Manager installed?

Re: Anyone tried out Hitman Pro?

    Thank you Saraceno,
I know that issue, even if I'm pretty sure this is a false positive.
As a matter of fact, if I repair Winsock I loose the connectivity.
Moreover: I hardly believe that my new Laptop with Windows 7 home premium 64 bit is infected.
I practice a safe surfing, I do not use P2p software or torrents, I always check what I decide to install.
My laptop is protected by ESET NOD32, MalwareBytes' AntiMalware pro, PC Tools firewall plus 6.0, Winpatrol 2010 and PREVX Safe OnLine.
My dafault browser is Firefox 3.6 + noscript + WOT and is sandboxed.
I also run recurring scan with a-squared free

I'm under a Router with a hardware firewall.

I suspect that for some reasons HitMan Pro didn't like Vmware Player 3.1

    Ok. Thanks for your reply.

I got this false positive when I had IDM's advanced browser integration enabled. W7 64-Bit here. Strange bug...:ninja:
