Running Vista 32bit
I Have Online Armor (Free) & Avast! Home (Free), installed now... Wonder if Comodo Internet Security (Suites Free) would be, better as far as using less resources, and even lessor drag on the network / surfing. Thought that since its is Combine Suite, compare to Online Armor and Avast, which are Two application working together. Anyone, Take on this ? Thanks! |

i think the OA + Avast is probly stronger, but the comodo suite wuld definetly be better on resources/lesss drag, least from my experiences OA added some noticable drag

However, if you're a power user who wants to monitor every single process for maximum defense, I suggest you use CIS w/ Defense+ set to Paranoid Mode and all the Defense+ Monitor Settings are ticked. Any which one you choose, couple it with Sandboxie and you're good to go |

Whilst protection wise you are good to go, there also will be a chance that OA and SBIE will have some sort of 'conflict'. These two combined causes a real slowdown when opening your webbrowser. I am not quite sure if the latest build of OA has the same problem, the latest one I had tested was the 190 build. Of course not everyone has this type of problem. I was ufortunately one of the few unlucky ones. Then again this group of unlucky ones apparently is not big enough, because the problem had not been resolved. I would keep the current setup ( OA + Avast ). Forget using Comodo as an antivirus too, because they have not reached the level of other free AVs yet. So if you have XP you can go with Comodo Firewall + Avast ( or Antivir Free ). If you have Vista the best solution would be OA + Avast ( or Antivir Free ). Why OA on Vista, and Comodo on XP? Comodo works on Vista too, and OA runs smoothly on XP too ![]()

When I suggest a software I want to be sure that the person that will follow my advice will face the minor amount of issues. If you visit Comodo's forums it's easy to understand that the latest releases have created some issues for some users that upgraded or installed Comodo on Vista x32 and x64. I had an issue too with the xxxxxxxxxx.477 release. This is the reason. I like Comodo and OA...actually I use them both on various machines of mine. I confirm that OA works great on both Vista and XP. There only some issues reported if you use sandboxie...but I cannot confirm this. The user was more interested in using Comodo ( although zpro was asking about the Comodo Suite...I know ) ...that's why I suggested Comodo on XP. If you do install Comodo for Firewall/Defence+,if you can handle a few pop-ups/decisions set the firewall to custom(alert settings high) then you will be alerted for any app which tries to connect out and you can answer and give that app a rule from the alert(or not and just answer the alert each time).
Also you can change your cofiguration to -Proactive security which enables the monitoring of a couple of other things and treats certain (Defence+) defualt rules differantly. Take care |

Q. With all that turn on...would that bog down the system ? compare to what I am using now? Q. second just read in the group, there may be some issues, with CIS, and Vista 32bit... Thanks! ![]() |

Most of the issues that have arisen with version .477 have been due to a not to great program update implementation.
A couple of 64bit users also have a bug of not being able to run 32bit apps, but only a few(go figure!) Using current CIS now on XP sp3-->cmdagent.exe(the guts) using ~6k memory cfp.exe(gui) ~3k Most comps have more than enough to deal with most apps nowadays, unless your doing heavy stuff whichever you try/use the differance will be fractional. Take care. |

Agree but the issues are not limited to the update process or its implementation. Actually users that made a clean install ( or uninstalled and installed again ) have reported issues. Comodo's forums posts are not secret...everyone can read them and arrive to a logical conclusion or make his own opinion. So there is not actually any reason for me and/or you totry to convince others if there are issues or not. Quote:
Inacurate statement. And in any case statistically a report of a small group of persons might be irrelevant but if you want to create a software that has a high level of quality you have to think about all reports and bugs. I support Comodo and really like it but I cannot lie just to prove I'm a supporter. I'm also sure that any issues will be soon corrected. |

Use the KISS logic. SBIE + Avira Free + Win Firewall

That's the version where BOClean Memory scanner and CIMA based heurisitcs will be integrated. As for usability, That will be in CIS v4.0 and that will be out a few months after v3.9 is out in theory... LOADS of usability (I'm not saying v3.9 wont have some more usability improvements... we will see!). Cheers, Josh |

Well, you don't want 1000 people working on a single project. That will be an overkill, Like having that many people on a Soccer field instead of 11. ![]() Though, CIS Team does have a good optimal team, around 110 developers. Cheers, Josh |

I woulddn`t normally do this as i can`t be arsed with all the tit4tat but please don`t call me a liar(i can`t see where i did). If the comment wasn`t directed at me fair enough but at no stage do i see where i lied. There are bugs in all software, some more than others, some when certain other applications are installed. The OP can surely do his own research and come to his own conclusion, agreed. I agree all bugs should be looked at and sorted as soon as possible but that would mean computers and programmers not making mistakes, and we know that aint gonna happen. Take care. ps zpro, whichever option you go hope all goes well |

Actually when I say I cannot lie...I'm talking about me. I mean I cannot say something that is not truth because I like a person, a dev team or a software. I was saying in my previous post that Comodo is not doing well when the OS is Vista...believe it or not...saying that is not easy for me...because I have followed Comodo since the beginning...so...my phrase was a statement that wanted to pass the message...hey it's hard for me to say it...but I cannot lie. Maybe it sounds stupid...but that's it. It's obvious that who does not agree with me...has just a diff opinion...so I could never call you lier. You have simply a different opinion. I still believe though that some of your statements were inacurate. In any case, my apologies. I hope that you can accept them. Take care you too. |

Hi NoIos,
I'm over at the Comodo Forums as well, If you need help with anything please let me know so I can try and identify the issue you were or are having and if it is a bug we can let the developers know... Cheers, Josh |
