Default avg 7.5 Free - Death rumours 'greatly exaggerated'?

While I'm in no way encouraging anyone to install this outdated-but-missed-by-many program, it's still being updated daily on one of my test rigs, with no popups or anything else prompting me to get rid of it.

I wonder if they'll actually continue support until April when 7.5 Pro is scheduled for the scrap-heap?

Still working fine here too. As long as it uses the same definitions as 8.5, I beg to differ on the word 'outdated' :-)

I don't see anything wrong with migrating to AVG 8.5

It's not resource extensive like what the media say.
Try it for yourself, and you will see the improvements

It also has improved detection with a built-in AS and improved heuristics.

Sure, the interface is flashy, but it's not like it's a hassle or anything.
And they already fixed the bug with regards to the disconnecting updates.

As far as detection it is really questionable because there is not, at least not according to VB or something similar. Myself see it going downstairs a lot in respect of
1-speed
2-browsing
3-healing
and support.
i have a licence of it and each time i install it, it gives me some hard time when it doesn't even detect some worms or simple infections from the flash drive. the free might be a better choice

I tried out AVG 8.5 Free Edition.
So I have no complains
It didn't have any significant slowdown in my old XP system whatsoever.
