Default SpyBot

I have installed SpyBot on several XP computers. After using the Tools part for start up programs the below left corner with the options of the graphic below disappears. Can not get it back.

I know this sounds really basic, but I noticed that after using those tabs for the first time, they each rise to the top of the column rather than stay below. Does this apply to you as well? Hope that is what you're experiencing :-)

Hi bandonisp,

It sounds like Spybot is starting up in Easy Mode.

To get it back to Advance Mode,

1. Open Spybot, then click on "Settings" button
2. Under the Settings Menu, click on "Settings" again.
3. Then in the right panel, under Installation-->place a dot in the circle beside the Advance mode options.
4. Close the Spybot and re-open. It should now open in Advance mode which will show all your options.

HTH,

snap

Sorry bandonisp, while going through the Help in Spybot-S&D, I realized after reading this that you may not be able to see the "Settings" if SS&D is starting up in Easy Mode.

Quote:
Setting the basic options Settings
All important settings are listed in a tree in this section. Please note that these settings are only visible if you start Spybot-S&D in advanced mode - the easy mode will not show them.

There should be a Spybot-S&D 'Group' as outlined below in the Help FAQ:

Where are features like the Tools section? FAQ #021

If you have made a fresh install of Spybot-S&D 1.2, you may miss some functions, like the Tools or the Excludes section. They have not vanished, but Spybot-S&D can now be started in two modes. If you open your start menu and look into the Spybot - Search & Destroy group, you'll see two different modes. If you start it in advanced mode, you'll see all the features you know from 1.1, plus a few new ones.

Next update will have a new main menu item that allows you to switch between easy and advanced mode from within the program.

If there is no such group in your Start Menu that gives you the option of starting up in Advance Mode, then go to your Add/Remove Programs and find Spybot Search & Destroy, and click on the *'Change/Remove' button (of course, do not remove it)...just click cancel and then check your Start Menu again. There should now be an option there now to open Spybot-S&D in Advance Mode. Then you can go to the "Settings" and check the Advance options where you want them.

I just tried it myself and got my group back for advance mode
