Default MFT defrag help please!

I am using the Ultimate Defrag Free Edition for normal defrag once a week.I also would like to defrag the MFT.But I am reading some posts about how problematic the boot time defrags are.
My question is:Is it safe to use the MFT defrag in the free version(1.72) of ultimate defrag. If it is safe to use; should I check the ''respect layout.ini.''
I also have the Paragon Hard Disk Manager 8.5 Special Edition. It also has MFT defrag option. Is it safe ?
Which one should I use?How often do I have to defrag the MFT? Thanks in advance.
I had used page defrag from Sysinternals.com before, but I know it does not defrag the MFT.

I don't bootdefrag in UD instead use Perfectdisk 2008 for it,if yo don't have it,can also use free pagedefrag from sysinternals.
