by Berislav Kucan - Wednesday, 25 February 2004.

The Network Associates exhibition space at the RSA Conference 2004

The first day of RSA Conference 2004 started in a really busy manner for Network Associates. Besides informing the public that McAfee Anti-virus and Vulnerability Emergency Response Team (AVERT) will now combine security vulnerability research with its malicious code and anti-virus research, there were three new product announcements.

Newly released McAfee Entercept Desktop edition for Microsoft Windows 2003 and Windows XP now offers users of these operating systems the intrusion protection for the most complex threats through extended server environment and platform support.

The second release of the day is a McAfee combo package titled McAfee Active Threat Protection. This useful package includes the company's flagship products: McAfee VirusScan Enterprise, McAfee Desktop Firewall, McAfee GroupShield, McAfee SpamKiller and McAfee WebShield SMTP. As a limited time promotional offer, this bundle also includes McAfee PortalShield for Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server.

Complementing McAfee Active Threat Protection, Network Associates announced McAfee Active Mail Protection - advertised as the only complete e-mail protection solution for Lotus Domino and Microsoft Exchange environments. It integrates advanced anti-spam, proactive anti-virus solutions, advanced content filtering, user-group based policy support and centralized policy management and reporting
