mango, you seem to have an older version of AVG. I'm using AVG Free 8.0.175, together with Firefox 3.0.3, and 3 https Eicar Tests (eicar.com, eicar_com.zip & eicarcom2.zip) are detected by AVG as soon as I try to download them to a file, giving me the options to Heal, Move to Vault or Ignore. The eicar.com.txt just opens in the browser's window but if I try to right click and Save Link As, AVG will catch it. FYI: the latest AVG Paid version is 8.0.199.

in versions 7.0 and 7.5, it was needed to select 'on-close scanning' in the resident scanner settings, please check if your version 8.0 has this setting, if so... tick it to enable.

C.S.J, AVG 8.0 still does have that setting, under Tools > Advanced settings > Resident Shield > Scan files on close, but mine is not selected and the Eicar tests are still caught by AVG. Just FYI.

updated to 8.0.199, and it caught the non zip https before downloading.
could download the zip files. checked Scan files on close, and could download the two https zip files, but avg reacted when opening. in nod32 v 2 the zip files was stopped before being saved on the pc. think maybe the last update made this happen |
