Edit: Returnil discussion split off from the Kaspersky reliable? anti-virus software thread.

I have already paid for and bought Acronis Trueimage and will just use that. Even though it means a full restore, it only takes about 15minutes, so it's ok

But if they were free, I would use Returnil or Rollback as well.

Yes and its very good. But unlike the pro version it doesnt make permanent changes to your sys if you want it to. After a reboot... all gone.. but thats not a bad thing and you can always install for real after anyways.
You can even surf the net with returnil on, no fear of viruses or anything then.
Used it for a year with no issues at all.

I also use Acronis True Image for making full backups of my clean sys. Keep one image on a dvd the other on Hard disk 2.

When you activate it (Session Lock or turning it On), your system partition will be virtualised, so when you reboot any changes you made will be gone.

Sounds great. But it only made Z virtual drive 5GB (which is empty by the way), but my whole Vista partition C: is 16GB.

So hows that work? How can it virtualise my 16GB Vista unto a 5GB virtual drive?

Guys, can you move the totally off-topic Returnil debate to a separate thread?

The Z virtual drive is a virtual partition created when you first install Returnil, where you can save any data you want to keep to that drive whilst Returnil protection is on.
Your C drive is still there, just minus the 5gb virtual partition.
When you re-boot, all data on your C drive will be lost, but all data stored on your Z drive will still be there.
