Questions regarding Shadow Defender

Hi, I am planning on getting Shadow Defender, but first I want to ask some questions because I never had virtualized my entire system before.
The reason I ask them here and not through mail at the website because I think this method is way faster.
Ok here are they:
-Does Shadow Defender have a trial versions, and if so how long is it?

-Does Shadow Defender virtualize your system in a way if you reboot all the changes are reset again?

-I plan on excluding files from virtualization; which files do I need to exclude in Vista?

-What to do if I want to install new software?

You can download and I believe run it as a trial. Not sure how long or if there are any limitations.

When you reboot, all changes are reset, but you can save specific files.

You don't want to exclude operating system files. Just asking for trouble.

If you want to install new software it depends. If it doesn't need a reboot to install, you can install it test and then when you reboot it will be gone. If the software needs to reboot for the install, you can't install it shadowed.

But I still want to know a full list of folders, if somebody made one.

If I want to install a new game, and of course I want to keep it;
do I need to disable the program, install the game and then re enable Shadow Defender or what?

Hi,

I'm using SD now. You can choose a specific file to exlude. Which one depends on you.

You can also exclude entire folders. I usually exclude /desktop, /My Documents and the /application data folders.

Yes, if you want to install a new game, you have to disable SD first, install the game, then re-enable SD.

Seems simple, I know I can handle the application.
I maybe need some time and even some long nights making it work, but the big issue is that I also need a simple to use environment for the rest of my family.
I don't want hearing them whining about something every 5 minutes.

I do need to say I run Vista, though. Well, I just will search some more then and maybe try sending an email to Shadow Defender support.

It all depends what you want to do. Programs like SD are great when you have kids who like to download programs and stuff and you want to keep your computer "clean". One reboot and all is restored to previous point. I have had no issues with SD so far. It works great.

Remember that SD virtualizes the ENTIRE system. There is no point to have an include folder because everything is virtualized. That is why you should have EXCLUDE folders if there is a specific folder that you want to save files into. For example, I exclude /desktop because I often download stuff to the desktop and save them. I also exclude the hidden /application data folders because of program updates. Of course it's just as easy to reboot, update then re-enable.

It looks like for your purpose, there is no reason to exclude anything. Just enable SD, let your kids/wife do whatever they want and then reboot at end of the day.

Just to clear things out a little, I'm 16 and I am in charge of everything that has to do with computers in our house.

And I think what I said was too vague. When I meant "INCLUDE", what I wanted to say was that I have around 15 folders in C drive. Only 2 critical folders need virtualization; /Program Files and /Windows.
Of course I know that when I use SD I leave this folders alone, I just exclude the rest. But My question is which other folders tend to be be places where malware likes to be and which also need virtualization. (Not the downloadfolder)

Just exclude the folders where you save your downloaded files and virtualize the rest. You can also virtualize the whole drive and if you download something you want to keep just right click on it and select "Commit Now", it will be kept after reboot. You can also exclude your anti virus folders to keep the updates. Many possibilities. If you work with word docs just exclude the folder where the files are saved and so on...

I use it its easy.

just virtualize everything but "my documents", put anything you want to keep in there, reboot take out internet cable install, into shadow mode, put back in cable, done!
