Default University of Michigan's CloudAV Project

"According to computer scientists at the University of Michigan (UM), installing an antivirus software on your personal computer might soon become useless. The research team has used a new approach, called CloudAV, which moves antivirus functionality into the ‘network cloud’ and off personal computers."

"Even if the results look promising, it should be noted that this is just an academics project for the moment."

ZDNet Article

Some of the comments questioned whether the present Web was mature enough for this. If it could be effectively implemented, would you consider using this type of AV? Would privacy be a concern for you?

Default Re: University of Michigan's CloudAV Project

Already referenced here.

And no, I wouldn't really be interested in using this type of approach. I wouldn't really be interested in using anything that reduces the relative autonomy I enjoy now. Especially in the security field.
