Default Help with Popnav

I hope you all can help me. I have a problem with Popnav.com attaching itself to my computer somewhere and it pops up when I try to go into my email (Outlook) and it trys to replace my webpage. Usually I can perform a search, find the files and delete them then open my email, but that's not even working now. It pops up whenever it wants to. I would love to be able to sue these people (Popnav). I've followed the instructions provided and I ran Spybot S&D. Please see the Hijack This log provided below. Can someone please help me? BTW, I'm not REAL computer literate.

Thanks, Jimmy Hedgepath

Default Re:Help with Popnav

Hi Hedge7,

Welcome at Wilders.

Check the items listed below in HijackThis, close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {D6DFF6D8-B94B-4720-B730-1C38C7065C3B} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: Clear Search - {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000240} - C:\Program Files\ClearSearch\IE_ClrSch.DLL (file missing)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {00000EF1-0786-4633-87C6-1AA7A44296DA} - (no file)

O2 - BHO: NavErrRedir Class - {5D60FF48-95BE-4956-B4C6-6BB168A70310} - C:\PROGRA~1\INCRED~1\BHO\INCFIN~1.DLL (file missing)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [spoolsvv] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\spoolsvv.exe -invisible

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [BHOUBFLSY] C:\WINDOWS\BHOUBFLSY.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SAHBundle] C:\DOCUME~1\JIMMYH~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\bundle.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MSVersion] C:\WINDOWS\System32\internetfeatures.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [iefeatures] C:\WINDOWS\System32\iefeatures.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [DKXF] C:\WINDOWS\DKXF.exe

O4 - Startup: Virtual Bouncer.lnk = C:\Program Files\VBouncer\VirtualBouncer.exe

O16 - DPF: {BB0578ED-E672-4697-9663-EC5A0460B949} (SomaticCAB.Setup) - http://downloads.searchcentrix.com/install/weblz.CAB

O16 - DPF: {E87EA803-2DBB-DE1A-511B-E2A48A8B86A0} (DownloadUL Class) - http://public.searchbarcash.com/cab/023/phpwgjpp.cab

Then reboot and delete:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\spoolsvv.exe
C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\[owner]\LOCAL SETTINGS\Temp\bundle.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\internetfeatures.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\iefeatures.exe
C:\Program Files\VBouncer <= entire folder

The Local Settings folder is hidden by default.
To "unhide" hidden files and folders:
Launch My Computer from the Desktop Icon.
Select View, Details.
Select the Folders button.
Select Tools, Folder Options. Then select the View Tab. Select the Show hidden files and folders radio button is selected
and that the Hide file extensions for known file types check box is unchecked. Once this is done, select Apply and then
Like Current Folder (located near the top of the Folder Options box). Then select OK.

Since you already ran Spybot S&D, some files may already be gone, so don't worry if you can't find some of them. Just move on to the next.

Regards,

Pieter

Default Re:Help with Popnav

Okay, I've probably hosed things up, but when I got up this morning I had three new icons on my desktop that I didn't put there and Popnav is still there. It didn't show up in the last log that I ran, but it's there again. I followed all the procedures that Pieter told me with the exception of what he said after the reboot. I did that and none of the files he named showed up. I ran Spybot S&D again which only had one problem. I fixed that and ran another Hijackthis log. It's below. Can someone please take a look at it and let me know what to do from here? Thanks so much.

Hi hedge7,

Looking at your log and your running processes, all you have to do is change your Startpage.

Regards,

Pieter

Pieter,
I know before I even send this that this is a stupid question, but here goes... How do I change my start page?

Hi hedge7,

There are no stupid questions in my book. It would have been stupid if you had not dared to ask.
In IE click Tools > Internet Options > on the General Tab you can change your Startpage there. Click Apply after you are done and OK.

Regards,

Pieter

Okay, thanks very much Pieter. I never was able to get to these that you said to delete:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\spoolsvv.exe
C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\[owner]\LOCAL SETTINGS\Temp\bundle.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\internetfeatures.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\iefeatures.exe
C:\Program Files\VBouncer <= entire folder

The computer won't let me delete the "spoolsvv.exe" file. And the VBouncer file... I should delete that too?

Hi Hedge7,

Those were the ones that are present and would not go, right?

Please boot into safe mode
and delete them there.

spoolsvv.exe is the shopnav hijacker
and Virtual Bouncer is real nasty malware, so you really should not leave them on you HD.

Regards,

Pieter

Thank you so much Pieter!! I think I'm clean for now. I've run Spybot S&D and it said I was clean. Would you do me a favor and look at my log one more time to make sure there's nothing else that should go?

Again, Many Thanks,

Jimmy
