Will installing this be automatically upgraded to the final "C" when it is available later?

I wonder if version 2009 still requires manual installation of program updates or are they automatic via updater (program updates, not hotfixes!)?

Please bear in mind that this is beta testing of a pre release hotfix...if you aren't prepared for problems do not install it. Once it is ready, it will be released via the autoupdater.
@Rejzor, version upgrades still need ot be installed manually. Last edited by Baz_kasp : June 12th, 2008 at 08:36 AM. |

Thats lame. Most of users prefer if AV updates everything itself as not many are tech savy and just expect the thing to work. So thats a major plus for avast!, AVG and AntiVir which full yupdate themself automatically.

It's manual update because it's a beta one.

Just to clarify things here, this is ONLY a MANUAL update as it is in the early beta testing stage of hotfix C and it will be added to the auto update when all the testing is finished, you will not have to add it manually when hotfix C is finally released. Here are some additional hotfixes that are being added to hotfix C later on. 1 Fixed Virtual Keyboard for Firefox 3 2 increased protection methods for Virtual Keyboard 3 Several fixes in the KLIF.sys driver THE MUL

I'm talking about full blown program updates. I know hotfixes are delivered through auto update but major program updates were delivered as EXE installer as far as i can remember... anything changed since then?

No....and although it would be a nice feature, there is a big possibility that something will go wrong with such an upgrade problem.
A manual upgrade will take about 3-4 minutes tops, and will not be done on a frequent basis...so users are not that inconvinienced |

I never had a single problem with avast! program updates in years. It fully updates definitions and program itself.
Besides, install time is not the problem, make users to even update the darn thing is more problematic. Most of them won't even bother and we all know how good is to run old antivirus...

@RejZoR
Good point, in my opinion Kaspersky really should roll-out program updates through automatic updates... Another thing about Kaspersky. I installed KIS 2009 in a virtual machine and it caused weird crashes of Firefox 3 and Adobe Acrobat Professional. Uninstalling KIS solved all the problems.... ![]()

What is the point in installing KIS while using Linux? Even a virtual machine thing...strange.
