I might email Symantec and tell them I'm already running a security product that takes about 10 seconds to install, has white/black/community signatures, offers good zero-day protection, streaming signatures but does occasionally take up some CPU time :p

The PC Mag article gave me deja vu when you compare it to this one from last year!

Really? On Drive Sentry's own website, the rating for DS (rated allegedly by users) is mediocre/average at best. If it's so good, why is it not rated higher by it's users?

You cannot escape the hard fact that DS users don't rate the product highly- but perhaps you are a shill for same?

More likely users don't think the product is that good- but promoters like you do. :thumbd:

I am just a happy end user!! I paid for the product.. $10.00 for life is a good deal for an additional layer of protection. Due to safe hex I cannot say if it has good detection or not. I do however like the info. bar and the allow/deny pop-ups--- warm fuzzy feeling abounds!! As far as promoting it? Yep guilty!! Why?? I LIKE IT!! ;)

Buck, I am pretty sure that is based on earlier versions and DS will tell you they learned a lot from that. I like it to but, untill I see some testingfrom folks I know can run it through the grinder, I am not totally sold. Price is good and the app is nice. But here again, time will tell.

I have not tried it and am not for it or against it. My only concern was seeing that others that have used the product were about neutral on it.

This thread was split from the original "Hell has frozen over - Norton to Speed, Not Slow, Computers" as all the DriveSentry posts were off-topic to that Norton thread. DriveSentry is the topic in this thread.

Well i can't comment on detection rates but support is probably the best ive ever seen! The programs is extremly light and i use it in conjunction with many layers and experiencing no incompatibilities at all.

I just emailed their support people about a new option I've noticed in the build on their forum which allows you to select when pop-ups are shown. I also asked about the feedback page and the flash widget goes to the middle by default and has nothing to do with previous votes.

    this forum is biased!
    i bought it, use it.

support is great, performance is great and they listen to ideas about improvements.

price is cheap, and for a lifetime.

apart from a few bugs hear and there, i cant fault it too much.

I've been to the DriveSentry site, but I'm still a little confused. Is this a true stand alone AV software, or just something to supplement your existing AV software? The site also describes it as a firewall. o_O

I'm not surprised and that was last year. I wonder how big the arrear is now, probably an attempt of keeping up the appearance.
