There were over one hundred somewhat new samples used in the test. Lots of Trojans, virtumonde,ect. It was first put on remove-malware.com. It was recentley uploaded to youtube.

Who knows what that person used for samples? Just another small time review as far as I can see.

He should send those samples in to ESET to be evaluated rather than post some sort of FUD test.

The testbed can not be validated (e.g. corrupt files etc), there is no indication of what settings were used or controlled conditions for testing as far as I can see.

And results will vary from app to app, with such small samples... Which is no indication of its worth (e.g. if it does really well or really badly)

Any test should be taken with a pinch of salt...and you should use the av you feel most comfortable with, not the one a reviewer is telling you is the best

I run NOD32 to keep threats away.
So I don't really care about that YouTube review.

Noticed that NOD32 is getting better all the time with Adware/Malware detection and removal.
And at the end, if you click here and there like a goose, you're going to get trouble.

He showed all the settings he changed in the advanced setup tree. I see your point on view on this, and I do believe that they are progressing in anti-spyware, as the av-test.org tests indicate,(under the section spyware and adware), which uses far more samples, I think around 80,000.
Thanks for the input. I do agree what he said that not just eset but pretty much everyone needs to toughen up against adware like vundo (virtumonde). That probably had alot to do with the results.

He said in the first or second video that NOD32 locked up during the scan. Just an observation, but it looked to me like all he had to do was press the delete button and it would have continued on.

It would be nice if NOD32 would continue scanning after it found something. It can leave the dialogs up on the screen, but it should continue scanning.

He tried deleting and cleaning it, didn't work. That was the infection that you saw the constant pop-ups for saying it was quarantined when it wasn't.I believe that was the Win32/TrojanDownloader/FakeAlert.G infection, or Qhost,forget which, and couldn't be removed. Then he scanned in safe mode and it got stuck at a particular vundo adware every time. The antivirus did its job well, it just mainly had trouble with vundo.
