My video card is the first to malfunction and breaks down.
How bout yours? What hardware components is the first to malfunction in yours? ![]()

The only hardware components that I have had to replace due to malfunction were:
1) CD ROM drive 2) Floppy diskette drive Since these are prone to failure due to internal moving hardware, I guess I have been lucky that nothing else has ever broke. ![]()

My mouse caused always problems in the past. Since I replaced it with a ball-less mouse, they live much longer.
The next component is my keyboard, after that probably my CD/DVD-drive. The rest dies of old age.

Hello,
Used to be PSU until I got UPSs. And a couple of times CD/DVD and floppy. Let's not provoke the Gods of Hardware by talking about components failure ... Mrk

Well-the initial comment about the video card failing makes sense because these run very hot and unless the whole case has adequate cooling, are bound to fail
The PSU failures sometimes are because "el cheapo" PSUs were purchased-bad value!! A good PSU is most unlikely to fail,if its matched to the rest of the system as regards power. |

Joint first for PSU and HDDs for me, I dunno if its bad luck but I tend to loose one of each every 2 years.
Distant second had a couple of sticks of ram faulty. Then comfortable third is one CPU |

same here, where I live the power supply is a bit dodgy through the wet season and eats PSUs [and other miscellaneous hardware] , a UPS was one of the best investments I've made. |

Hello,
Almost always the processor for me. But thats because I overclock it too much. Next is RAM. Again, too much voltage. ![]()

Once the MOBO and once the HD.
On my laptop, the CD tray, but because a friend pulled to hard to open it and almost took it off. Otherwise nothing, had good luck so far.

Both times the MOBO. I am sure that it is because of overheating as I keep all my school books, papers ect. obstructing much of the air inlet holes.
Now I have extra fans to prevent this (hopefully). |

Two items are good for going out on me but rarely, yet still happens over the course of time, and thats the Power Supply & CPU Fan.
Other componants so far seem to me to show a remarkable resilency to withstanding surprising lengthy TIME ON + Extreme Useage including Memory Modules for some reasons. Hard Drive failures seem to be no problem at all here.

I tend not to keep them long enough for serious components to fail - so never had a PSU, hard drive, memory ..... failure But CD /DVD's have often died young
- will never buy another Sony, or Plextor. Have a number of BenQ's that are now aging - Not sure what I will do when they eventually die ? Lite-on is OK but they don't last.
