A lot of people do, Checkout.

The built-in 'bug report' feature is something a lot of other software makers would do well to emulate.

Especially if they were as responsive as Patrick. Pete

Ok are you saying there should be a TAB in excludes for System Internals like there is a check box in Settings Filesets?

In other words are you saying there should be 8 TABS in Excludes
to match the 8 check boxes in Setting Filesets
and the missing one is System Internals?

Controler,

I'm getting a "bit confused" with your wording - maybe because it's late here, or maybe I had too much sun

I don't know if there should be a TAB in excludes for system internals. Don't forget I downloaded this program yesterday and Im still trying to figure out HOW to do it the best way I can

I'm also NOT saying there should be 8 TABS in Excludes to match the 8 checkboxes in Setting Filesets. Would be "easier" as it would match the other 8 boxes.

I UNchecked " system internals" as I don't like to "mess" around in the registry and "only" wanted to hear Spy's opinion on this one "unchecked" item .

Must say, I'm really impressed with this program, but I still don't know everything about it

SBS&D is a great prog indeed. Especially considering how fast it has progressed, and how much it costs.

Patrick, you have done a remarkable job. Consider this my public "thank-you" for all you have done to help the privacy conscious surfer.

Marianna - You can keep 'System Internals' checked if you're willing to very carefully examine each entry before doing anything to remove any of them.

If you get hit with too much info to handle (or it just clutters up your 'Results' window) , just un-check it without doing anything to any of it, and the next time it won't show.

Actually, it's a pretty good way to get familiar with registry entries you may have not known were even there. After doing a check and the "bad" keys (or values) are displayed, you can ask for a description by selecting the value and clicking on the description button.

It's important to remember, though - right now, there is no 'back-up' for keys that you alter or delete, so use this feature with a lot of caution. Pete

Pete,

thanks for taking the time

I was just "overwhelmed" with the huge amount of entries as I had this particular one checked. It was the first time I ran this program - Yup, is right - I had found the "description key", and was "amased" what was in "there" !

Thanks again!

I posted this yesterday under the topic of the new Spybot S&D 1.0. Thought I ought to repost it here as well.
Quote:
I am very pleased with Spybot S&D! It has cleared all the spy crap off my system (put there by the manufacturer). AND, it is the first application that did not cause any problems on my fussy OS. It cured and cleansed! Thank you, PepiMK!
And also a BIG thank you to spy1 who convinced me to give this app a try!

I love this program !!!!!!

In case you aren't aware of this feature, You can right click any of those registry entries and chose to exclude them from futher searches
, they then go to Excludes, Single Excludes. Then if you decide at a later date to search them again, just right click on thme in Excludes, Single Excludes and chose remove.
I usualy just let it search them each time to see how consistant the program is.

I mam still wondering about the file shredder. It does give a breif discription about how it works in the help file. It appears you can chose the number of passes for the files you drag & drop to shred but the registry entries only get the 5 passes.
Anybody heard anymore on this yet?
