then log in with temp password emailed to you.
    enter coupon code to convert

your account profile will list the expiry date
D/L and inst application, upon open program, enter your user info
log in, the trial version will convert into full one paid version.

It´s basically Mamutu with a signature scanner who doesn´t exactly performs that great (according to tests), so nothing exciting to me, but thanks for sharing anyway. :)

Where are the real time mem usages? SAS is only using 350K. Is this heavy?

Thanks for the tip Perman, but I too will pass.

By the way Dieselman it is basically Mamutu with a scanner.

    Hi,

I would assume it is legitimate.

I am running both on one laptop, seems an OK.

If you have an account because of Mamutu, just log in and convert coupon code, then bingo you get a one year free confirmation.

Hi, it is much heavier vs SAS pro

The guard runs at 8165k or so.

I will play it for a while to feel the difference if any.

    Hi,

    I am afraid not.

A squared Anti-malware may contain some or perhaps most of features that come with Manutu ( needing some confirmation).

I never have used A squared before except very briefly with Free scanner years ago. Need time to evaluate it, the one year free lic will just give me ample time to do it.

Wind has changed the direction now, I can feel that more and more above-average security vendors are rolling out one year free thing, perhaps those 30 days trial concept just is not good enough any more.

Yes, Code works without Problems, deactivated Mamutu from Startup.

Asqared has no Community Protection like Mamutu and it has not the automatic setting allow/deny like Mamutu.
I think this the main difference of the Guards.
If you run the PC-Security Test the Eicar and the GainGator File will not detected, only a new startup, so where is the Signatur based Guard o_O

a-squared Anti-malware like Mamutu does offer Behavioral Detection, but you can disable this part of it and just use the signature and heuristic detection it also offers. A-squared AM ran light on my PC and I liked it, but I remember after clicking to go to another area of the program within the GUI like the Hijack free section it has, the GUI would disappear for a split second and reappear with section you clicked on. You can use it as On-Demand only, but it does run a process even when shut down. For free everyone should take advantage of this offer as it does sometimes find "Traces" of malware that other programs don't and even if like me you are a SuperAntiSpyware fan, I wouldn't hesitate to run both in RealTime. I ran a-squared AM and ThreatFire together without problems, and we all know how well SAS gets along with almost any other program. You do have the occasional False Positive, but this rarely happens and can be checked in the Emsisoft forum.

Hi! I'm a bit curious as to why you have the view you have of EMSI software?
I understand that everyone can't like all software so it's not a mystery to me that some ppl dislikes it for various reasons - I just got curious. (...and "No" - I'm not affiliated with EMSI :) )

    Got any links to tests?

The main reason I'm asking is that I saw this offer as an good opportunity to "upgrade" the protection on some of our computers (the missus' Laptop and the youngster's & my mother-in-law's boxes) but after reading some of the replies/views/comments in this thread I hesitate.

    Anyone?

    regards,
    T

A2 Malware with IDS is a decent AntiSpyware/Trojan supplement to your defense (for instance with Antivir free). People compare the IDS function with TreatFire, TF is more adanced and free. That is the dislike i guess.

Never was impressed with their A-squared to begin with (mostly FP's)
I've used their free and a four or six month trial of paid (stayed on my box for a month or two)
The last straw can be found HERE.

OK LoneWolf. I see your viewpoint clearer now. Sorry to hear about the crash.

Still, from what I've read so far it seems like a decent alternative to most of the similar free programs (ASAM not Mamutu).

    regards,

    Very well said :thumb:.

I've had a license to a-squared AM, but I only use it for on-demand scans. With my setup, I don't really need a real-time anti-malware/spyware. A-squared is a bit sluggish in the GUI department as Wordward mentioned and the program is heavy despite being trimmed down. When I used it real-time, I didn't notice any CPU usage. It also has IDS which may or may not interfere with other behavior blockers and or HIPS programs.

Overall, if you need a good AM/AS, then this is a great deal.

Well I tired this and ran it for only 5 minutes then uninstalled. Running 2 processes adding up to 62K. Whats that all about. Then I went to shut it down and had to enter a code. Blah,Blah. I will keep SAS Pro.

Maybe but Avira Premium includes anti spyware, so is a-squared in real time needed or is it an overlap?.
I am in the process of reducing the security software running in real time and after issues with Kav have purchased Avira Premium to run with OA paid and no other anti spyware although keeping a-squared, sas and malwarebytes to run on demand, also when surfing the dark side using Returnil session lock.
