Default AVG and Windows File Sharing

Has anyone else found this problem:

When using AVG and trying to access a shared folder on my home network the computer trying to receive the file locks up. So far the only work around for this is to exclude the network shares from real time protection which is only possible with the paid version.

This has happened on both real and virtual machines with both XP and Vista and even when using only the built in Windows firewall.
