Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5
Brief Description Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 contains many new features building incrementally upon .NET Framework 2.0 and 3.0, and includes .NET Framework 2.0 service pack 1 and .NET Framework 3.0 service pack 1. Overview .NET Framework 3.5 builds incrementally on the new features added in .NET Framework 3.0. For example, feature sets in Windows Workflow Foundation (WF), Windows Communication Foundation (WCF), Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) and Windows CardSpace. In addition, .NET Framework 3.5 contains a number of new features in several technology areas which have been added as new assemblies to avoid breaking changes. They include the following: Deep integration of Language Integrated Query (LINQ) and data awareness. This new feature will let you write code written in LINQ-enabled languages to filter, enumerate, and create projections of several types of SQL data, collections, XML, and DataSets by using the same syntax. ASP.NET AJAX lets you create more efficient, more interactive, and highly-personalized Web experiences that work across all the most popular browsers. New Web protocol support for building WCF services including AJAX, JSON, REST, POX, RSS, ATOM, and several new WS-* standards. Full tooling support in Visual Studio 2008 for WF, WCF, and WPF, including the new workflow-enabled services technology. New classes in .NET Framework 3.5 base class library (BCL) that address many common customer requests. IMPORTANT: If you have installed earlier pre-release versions of .NET Framework 3.5, then you must uninstall them prior to running this installation by using Add or Remove Programs. According to Wikipedia .NET Framework 3.5 went RTM on November 19, 2007.
Im wondering why Microsoft rereleased it. Maybe some minor change in the installer?

RTM sometimes can often be weeks or months before it is released to the general public. |

Thats true but iirc the download was available before.
Anyways its not a big deal. I just feel curious why Microsoft rereleases downloads.

I would think the previous versions were pre-releases as noted on the release page.

Just checked: the download available In November 19 and now is the same file, same md5 checksum. I believe they released the final 3.5 along with the release of Visual Studio 2008 Express Editions, as 3.5 is one of the requirement and installed along with Visual Studio 2008 when not present.
Maybe MS released a download again, which they usually do, even if it is the same file, for example, when they update the documention or readme... |

Please note that the website date has changed back earlier today to 11/19/2007 and that Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 has not been updated after all. I apologize for any inconvenience caused by this website error today
