I tried networking my win98 machine to another. I got it to work after adding things to the network config window (protocols and clients) and finally hooked up using tcp/ip with client for microsoft netwroks and file sharing. I read another message board that suggested ip address assignments that should work (192.168.0.1 and 192.68.0.2) which did work. However, I had to change my ip back to what it was to get on the net again (dsl connection)
Can I aviod this addy changing? And now that I've removed some protocols/clients, I can't see my computer in the view network window, and can't see the other computer on it's own window. Oh, I just want a peer to peer type thing, with no router and just a cross link cable. Like I said, I had it working once that way, but now can't seem to remember how I did it. What do I need to do to fix this? WHat are the bare minimum things I need in the network config window?
