Obviously I dont have the ability to see total thread posts but, in the last 2 months I have noticed more new threads, new posts and active readers in here, the malware forum instead of the AV one. It use to be the other way around. Signal of a consumers changing philosophy on security apps?

Good observation trjam. Also maybe unlike myself, a lot of people remain more loyal to their AV choices 's than their extra protection.

I think that Malware software covers a larger scope than Antivirus software, thus giving us more to talk and argue about.

the malware section offers more threads about the unknown, alot more software to talk about, the AV thread is what people already know and feel comfortable with, the malware section is for the unknown, and for people wanting to try new things and experiment a little.

Substantive threads are quite readily received. However, a large fraction of threads in that section devolved into useless flamefests which obscured more than they enlightened.

Most of the new conceptual developments seem to appear first as standalone approaches, hence their likely discussion in this venue. Some may remain that way, others may be incorporated into combination offerings.

As past recent history has hopefully taught, try to keep the discussion substantive, focused on factual matter, and civil in tone.

Cant argue with that. Also I think that many can see the potential of those types of technologies. Not much excites us anymore... Not too many "Killer Applications" being released these days either to stimulate reseeding interests. (However I did ear about a cream for receding hairlines...)

Yep, I agree too. There is more ground to cover here, whereas the AV threads seem to get pretty old fast nowadays...
