I downloaded the trial, but ordered the product from Dell, can I use the serial number from the Acronis disc and put it in the trial version or do I need to uninstall trial and reinstall registered version.

if it were me i would uninstall the trial and install the full retail version, also go to acronis web site and register your acronis product as well.

yes all your backups should be ok, afterwards you could verify the images just to be sure.

Unistall the trial version then install the new licensed version. The trial versions can't be changed to licensed versions. You could try to install the licesned version over the trial but soemtimes this causes troubles so best to uninstall and install the licensed version fresh.
The version you install should be able to handle backups made with the same version number and the version jsut prior -- e.g., ATI 10 should be able to work on files from versins 9 and 10. Sometimes a version will work on even older files but Acronis doesn't guaranty it.
