Good Outbound Protection?

Hi there.

Right now i'm using ProxyFirewall with Avast Free. But now I wonder if there is any light firewall, or something like ProxyFirewall, that monitors the outbound connections a little bit better then the proxy thing? As you may know, I have already tried Comodo FW and Online Armor. But I did not like them so much. And since my router checks the inbound traffic, I only need some kind of outbound protection.

I use lookNstop primarily for the outbound protection. Less than 10K RAM use. Also good support on the forums at this site.

What is wrong with proxy firewall for outbound.I am using it for outbound with a router and it is very light and does its job.

I would recommend Kerio 2, Sygate or an old version of Zonealarm. All light with basic outbound. Or, if you're a leaktest nut, Dynamic Security Agent or a HIPS such as SSM may be to your liking. Threatfire is also a good'n for outbound if you create an advanced rule.
There's loads of options out there. Give them a try and use what you feel most comfortable with.

All previous suggestions are fine. I could add, what i am currently using, AShampoo Firewall free. 15MB RAM, 0% CPU, you can also specify ports, great UI.

Make sure you uncheck "prevent termination of firewall". At least on my PC, if you don't, you get tons of errors in the XP event viewer. The firewall is stable as rock anyway.

You could try jetico 1 and just disable the inbound protectionand process attack table. It runs very light and has great outbound protection.

I really like ProxyFirewall, but I don't feel 100% secure with it. But maybe that's just me.

This sounds like an excellent option for someone who is behind a firewall router. Was wondering if you would post a couple of pics showing exactly how to do this. Afraid I might not do it right. If you can't post pics, hopefully one of the mods or Stem could help out.

Also, does anyone know if this can be done with Jetico version 2?

Sorry, I am on linux right now and it has been a while since I had jetico installed. I actually disabled inbound by removing a driver per someone's suggestion in this forum. It worked well but I am not knowledgeable enough to state that it is a suggested method.

Why would any changes be needed to Jetico in such a setup?
Lets us look at this setup.
You have a remote firewall(or NAT), so no unsolicited inbound will pass to Jetico, so no popups for inbound. If you do have other PC`s on LAN, then simply have the LAN as trusted (no inbound protection (popups) from this).

Such as the Attack table is for prevention of outbound not inbound. (Jetico2 has "indirect access", again for outbound, not inbound)

Am I missing something? Please advise.
