Hello people,
can anybody tell me the difference of Acronis True Image Workstation and True Image Server when running in bootable mode? I mean...can I just use a bootable TI Workstation disk to backup my Server 2003 HD and recover the image into my other machine in offline mode (bootable mode)? It shouldnt be any diffference yes? |

I believe that Workstation does not support some of the Disk types that can be found on a Windows Server platform (dynamic, software mirrored, spanned, etc). I tried to create an image from a Windows 200 Server system by booting with the Workstation bootable CD and it would not backup the dynamic disks. I bought TI Server and it had no problems with the server disk types.
I use a dual-boot WinXP Pro and Windows 2003 Server development system using Acronis Disk Director so neither OS sees the disk/partition used by the other OS. I perform all the backups using True Image 9.1 Workstation running from XP. The physical drive and partitions for Windows 2003 server are archived with zero issues and I have been able to restore the image of both disks from the bootable ATI Workstation CD. I use a Basic Disk in 2003 Server. Brian |
