    Mamutu=BSOD
At least it did for me.
Worst crash I ever had, could only restore to my baseline in Rollback Rx.
    Corrupted all my snapshots.
Never again will I install anything from EMSI Software.
I know this is beta but what a pain in the butt tring to get back where I was.
Think i'll try and stay with final releases from now on.

Good idea. Beta testing can be hazardous to your computer health.

    Hi Lonewolf

Any and all beta software can cause bad crashes. Also clearly Rollback failed you. This also can occasionally happen which why you should also have backup images just incase.

    Hi,

BSOD to your box, perhaps short-circuited to user's memory---because the name is so hard to remember and relate. I bet you one loonie that new name will surface when final release is finalized, again because this M-- name is already badly tarnished. No one in our group can remember this name after we talked and laughed during tea time break a while ago.

Yes it can be......found out the hard way.

Yes Rollback did, I'm thankful my baseline was still able to load and i'm just working on getting back to where I was. I agree I need a better back up plan and I will as soon as my finances allows me to.May be a while so I think my testing days are on hold till I have something better in place.

A piece of interesting trivia about the name.

Read the syllables backwards, and the name becomes Tumuma. In Chinese, this can be read as 屠木马

In other words, "slaughter trojan horses".

    Hi, Solcroft:

    Oh, no!
This will make matter even worse. Just like naming a horse a donkey. A bad bedtime story. It is 10 o'clock, do you know where your ... is ? :)

@LoneWolf: You don´t need to buy a new software. You can improve your backup plan today by downloading a free copy of Acronis True Image 7.0 here.

Hi, When I updated A2 today, I got a pop-up about Mamutu's release. I checked the site and it's true. http://www.emsisoft.com/en/kb/articles/news071111/ You either have bad timing (like me) or the program doesn't like your computer LOL. Given your past experience, make a back-up first :).

Also, you can get a limited version of ATI if you own a Seagate or Maxtor hard drive. The link is floating around here somewhere. I'll see if I can find it. https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=175492

    edit: added link

I downloaded this program yesterday and it is working well on XPSP2. I do not know how good it is so will be interesting to see the results of anyone who may test the program.:)

I have been using Sygate 5.6.3408 beta and the system has not had a hiccup since I installed it. :p It depends on what the type of software the beta refers to. For example, if it is a word processing beta software, any problems should be minor. When you install beta HIPS software that "hooks" in deeply into the Operating System, that is a totally different situation. ;)

If this is the proper translation of the name, then it is aptly named. :D

Is this a Danish version of Acronis? I know someone who lives on an island in Denmark and she might be interested in this offer.

Edit: I also noticed that the English version of it is available too.

Well, beta software is always risky.

But why didn't you contact the support? Why didn't you report the BSOD at all?

Interestingly, you're the first user with such a fatal crash. Are you sure that it was really caused by Mamutu?

Btw. if you uninstall Mamutu in safe mode (it can't cause a crash in safe mode), it's gone without any rest. A system restore is always the last solution.

    Yes, of course it is.

Did'nt think of it at the time...I was just pissed and wanted to get my system back to normal.

I reported it here........Consider this my reporting it to you now.

First user that you know of. Yes it was caused by Mamutu.

So your saying it can't crash is safe mode. But it can by not being in safe mode.

Unless it corrupts other things on one's PC.

    Hi,

Verey bad PR work from developer of this M... sorry, can not spell out.

It is always the easiest way out of any trouble by pointing fingers at someone else.

Why don't you look into mirror to see how yourself look like.

Bad enough the app (still in beta ?) now this finger pointing. Have they ever learned ? :thumbd: :thumbd:

Acronis was offering TI 7 as free for personal use earlier and by registration you would receive a free license. Apparantly this offering was time limited so it´s not valid any longer. Sorry for creating any confusion. But there are other free (if not changed ;)) alternatives:

    Seagate DiscWizard & DriveImage XML
