Default Anti Spam Module not scanning messages in Thunderbird

The email protection for Thunderbird is added and ticked, the anti spam module is enabled.

Nothing is recorded in messages received.

Maybe I've missed something?

If I'm not mistaken Antispam does not integrate with Thunderbird yet.

Running TB also, just checked mine after reading your post, all is ok here. BTW, was told by reseller to ignore ALL the emails from Eset due to the fact they have my expiration date incorrect, must be a really HUGE SNAFU @ Eset. So I dl'd the trial and when receiving the correct UN and pW, will plug it in. Do you have the green check next to the Anti-Spam in the set up menu?

EDIT: To MasterTB, yep, you're mistaken! ;-)

Im sory to tell you this but it is you that is mistaken. Your screen shot is for Email checking but not for Antispam. If antispan was integrated into thunderbird you should see something like what I post in the image and I'm pretty sure you don't.

Antispam does not work with Thunderbird yet, i asked about this during the beta stages and was told along the lines of 'it may do in the future'. For now it's just use TB's own junk mail functions, which arent working great for me here.

This is one reason i am still deciding about whether to go for the suite or not. I ONLY use Thunderbird so that would mean i'm paying for a suite that has 3 main functions - AV/AS, Firewall and Antispam - but am going to be disabling one of them from the start.

Okay, may have made a mistake then - how then do I know if the email is being scanned - I don't get any message on the bottom of the mail or a bubble saying incoming mail has been scanned?

There is an option in the Email Setup that enables an option to append a tag to "all recieved email", that's what you should enable.

ESET really needs to look at something like SpamPal (which I happen to use); or any of many SPAM fighters that work that same way, on how to handle SPAM. Why tie SPAM blocking to one or more specific e-mail programs when you can just as easily support to ANY e-mail program. Isn't HTTP and POP3 already checked before it gets to it's corresponding program?

Making the anti-SPAM part work with any e-mail program should be a "must do" not a "may do"

It DID! but I no longer use ESET products as got fed up with the constant moans about a product I had very little problem with. Apart from which the cost of Nodv3 in the UK is not competative with other single AV products, So I went for a suite that has a half price offer at the moment - does just as good as ESET in the AV Comparitive Tests, plus it scans all my email and marks everything as Spam that address is not in my white list!

I'm one of the many who upgraded to v2.7 after getting fed up with endless problems with licensed v3.0 and the trial version of ESS and all the BS surrounding them.

I've probably been a bit harsh in my criticism of ESET on the web, but it was deliberate. They need a damn good shake-up.

It's unfortunate that all this bad crap has happened to ESET through poor planning, and their poor people skills made it 10 times worse, but Microsoft, Norton, Kaspersky, and many other software companies have done much worse things many times and no doubt will do so again. Nobody is perfect.

Right now I can walk out of Fry's with the new Trend Micro suite and 5c in my pocket after cahsbacks, but I still have faith in the future of the ESET programs, so why would I downgrade to Trend (which is less effective on viruses and trojans than v2.7) even though its price is "less than free"?

v2.7 with a good firewall and spam filter is streets ahead of any security suite on the market, including ESS. That's "now". It will change in the future as suites improve, but I'm betting that ESS will come out #1 in 3-6 months.

Just my 2 Yuan worth.
