    Hi Mr Acronis,
To-day I went to some sites in order to compare prices on Acronis TI 11.

On the American site, it is offered at $49,95.Since I'm a Canadian citizen,I simulated an order paid in Canadian dollar and the cost was recalculated at$50.89(taking into account the value of the currency).I checked the Canadian dollar value ,on line ,at that very precise moment and it was rated at $1.0376 for one American dollar.
Taking this into consideration, I should be charged $48,14 Canadian dollars.

On the Canadian site ,in French, this version is offered at $79,95 +taxes =$91.10.

How do you explain these discrepencies?
    Thank you for your... pain!

Don't forget, the exchange rate that is often quoted by online bureau's is the interbank rate, which is different to the actual retail bank rate.

Secondly, the company that auto currency converter is linked to probably only updates their rate once a day - and of course that'd depend on what country they are based in.

Thirdly, I have found that the rate shown by Digital River, is better than that offered by my credit card company once their conversion fees have been taken into account.

    Hi,
If it was so,it would show in the breakdown calculation as it does when calculating the Canadian price, which is taxed.

Impossible. The Canadian dollar has been rated higher than the Us dollar for at least one month. Therefore, the Canadian price should be lower, no matter when the exchange rate is calculated.

I'm still waiting for better explanations.

    babac,

You might want to take a look at this thread: True Image 10 Upgrade

Note the answer by Acronis Support on how they set their rates.

An alternative is to buy it from the User Group Store - if they would ship to Canada.

I just checked and they do ship to Canada.

    Hi,
This answer is almost as good as your first one.
    You should do as I do:I don't answer when I don't know.

    Hi,
I'm looking for a French version.

Therefore ,I can't buy it in USA but only in Canada or France.
France does not want me to buy on the account that I'm a Canadian citizen. In Canada the price is $91.10(can) and in USA it's only $49.95.

That's what my problem is all about.

It seems that I've been victim of the infamous € = $ conversion yet again as I paid 49.95€.

I just checked with xe.com, the 49.95€ is just now $71.90.

This translates to an extra $21.95 charged, just because I'm not an american.

I guess this is how some businesses operates.. Not sure if I like it though..

No doubt why Acronis has given europe a page of its own then.

I like True Image a lot, but it would be nice to pay a fair price instead of the extra european fee (which amounts to a 44% penalty).

After reading the post Mudcrab linked to it's obvious that it is intentional (and on the european site there is no way to select payment in $, only £ or €).

Salut babac (I am a french frog from Montreal too :D )

    nb47 seems to be right.

    Let's just make simple calculations.
The american price ($49.95) includes sales tax. Acronis is located in Minnesota and the sale tax there is 6.5% as reported by Wikipedia. Therefore, I presume that the price before tax is $46.90 US. With the value of currencies you have mentioned, in canadian dollars this means $45.20 CAN before tax. In Quebec, federal tax and provincial tax are respectively 6% and 8%. Therefore the price in canadian dollars including taxes is $51.74 CAN. This means that Acronis is making you a $0.85 CAN gift. Are you happy now ? :D

I just noticed how to change between the european and the american site.. Too late, but it wasn't hard.

It doesn't excuse the 1:1 conversion though..

I guess my order yesterday may be the only one I'll ever place because of the extra penalty I had to suffer this time.

I was quite happy with the product, and was about to suggest that my friend should also buy it.. Now I'm not so sure..

    Hi,
    I don't think you're right.
Prices on the web never include taxes, the reason being that they are applicable only to the residents. If ,for exemple, I buy Acronis T11 from a US site, I'm not charged with any tax, because I'm not a US citizen(this is something I simulated). On the other hand, if I buy from a Canadian site, I'm billed for both taxes(I simulated that too).

The only thing I more or less agree with is the $0.85¢ profit, if I buy it on an American site. But this is irrelevant as I don't want to buy it on an American site for language reasons.

My point is: Acronis TI 11 is $49,95 in USA(before tx) and $79.95(before tx) in Canada, even though the Can dollar is worth more than the US dollar.

    Hi,
I must be right somewhere as Acronis support does not dare to bring some kind of explanation.

Where is this site? I can't find it anywhere.

The only french site I can find is France and the price difference is likely because of taxes and translation services.

If you can live with anglais, TI-10 is on sale at Bestbuy for $19.99cdn.

Also, you would have to ask Acronis support if it's OK but could you download the trial from france site and use registration you purchase from american site?

    Hi,
No I can't download from a France site. As soon as I mention I'm a Canadian citizen,I'm immediately redirected to the Canadian site,in French, where the price is $79.95 +tx.
May be I shoud lie about my identity and citizenship.
