Default PGP & Outlook Express

haven't had time to get to grips with PGP yet, but received the following from Imad R Faied about v6.58 and Outlook Express. I'm hoping he may drop by and visit soon.

MY QUESTION TO IMAD:
>Good to see the freeware movement is still alive and kicking.
>
>Apologies in advance if this is a dumb newbie question.....
>
>Am I right that the PGP / Outlook Express / Win2k combination is unstable
>in ver 6.58?
>
>Are there any older versions where this combination is stable?

HIS REPLY:

Hello,

It is not quite right.

Some users report that all is well, while
others report problems, which so far, I have
been unable to replicate my end.

The problem is that OE has no plugin architecture,
therefore the PGP plugin is implemented using hooks.
Not the most easily maintainable way to program.
So, it's propensity to break with each new release
is higher.

My advise is to try it out, if you experience problem
remove the plugin my un-installing PGP, then re-intalling
it without the OE plugin.

You may then use the "Hot-Key" or the "Current window"a
feature of PGP 6.5.8 for your crypto chores.

IMHO, the above make all plugins obsolete.

Hope the above helps,

Best Regards
