:D I upgraded to this release from Dr. Web Antivirus+Antispam 4.33 this morning, and the installation over the previous version went absolutely perfectly. I ran a complete scan of my laptop, and the total scan time was the same as previous version. I have absolutely no problem with Dr. Web's scan speed at all--for me, the scan has been taking 1 hr. 15 mins. Congratulations to Dr. Web for this long-awaited version release!:)

Now I only wait that they get that "real" quarantine.

    Then everything is ok! ;)

    Fredra,
Yes, for those of us that use and like Dr. Web, Chris is our equivalent of "Windows Defender"--he is our "Dr. Web Defender!":D :D

What does that mean? Are there any issue with the scheduler?

When I updated DrWeb just now, it did NOT update to version 4.44.

    How does this work?

*WHY doesn't DrW's automatic updater take care of the version update?

*Am I supposed to download 4.44 from DrW's website & update manually?

*What is the link to the 4.44 download?

*Is it okay to install 4.44 over 4.33?

I find it disappointing that DrW finally did an upgrade but leaves me, a paying customer, unaware of that fact unless I read it here at Wilders. :doubt:

    hi,

    Antivirus

    Antivirus + Anti-Spam

no need to uninstall, just install 4.44 in the same place as 4.33, which it should do automatically anyway.

also, i checked the vista scheduler, its automatically added a schedule for updates, every 30 minutes.

    Hi BellG
Here are the instructions, and they do work.

How to upgrade to version 4.44
For all registered users of Dr.Web Anti-virus for Windows and Dr.Web for Windows. Anti-virus&Anti-spam upgrade to version 4.44 is free of charge.

To upgrade from version 4.33 to Dr.Web for Windows version 4.44, do the following:

download the distribution of either Dr.Web Anti-virus for Windows or Dr.Web for Windows. Anti-virus&Anti-spam and save it to the same directory where Dr.Web v.4.33 is installed
run the saved file and follow the procedure of the installation wizard
wait until the installation is completed and reboot your computer

OOPS!!! .... Chris beat me to it... sorry CSJ ... I type too slow.. lol :)

    Cheers :)

cant find one for any on-demand scans, and surely if i created one for "C:\Program Files\DrWeb\drweb32w.exe" it would only open up the start up screen, and will not perform either a complete or express etc, unless i tell it to do so, this defeats the schedule.

You can add a task to the system scheduler. Use command line switches of drweb32w.exe (Dr.Web Scanner) to tell it what to do:

    a) Express Scan: %path%\drweb32w.exe /fast
    b) Complete Scan: %path%\drweb32w.exe /full

Substitute %path% with a full path to drweb32w.exe (installation folder of a program, usually "C:\Program Files\DrWeb").

Complete documentation for version 4.44 is available for download (in Adobe PDF format): ftp://ftp.drweb.com/pub/drweb/windows/drweb-444-win-en.pdf

    Hello,

This was made purposely for many reasons, including big difference in modules that are installed in 4.44. We understood that 4.33 users will not be updated automatically, but that was clearly said in the emailed news about the release. And complete instructions were given.

cmon serge, this needs a little changing, maybe a default fast scan or something to be implemented by default, like there is for updates.

no general user, is going to know how to do this.

the update schedule is very good, every 30 mins without me touching or changing anything is very good.

or, please tell people this on the website so they all know.

i often use the windows task scheduler so i know it well, but the average user of the software probably doesnt even know windows has one.

just looks the same as 4.44 beta.

I just went through the whole PDF, and it appears Dr.Web may need to find a Blackspears to simplfy all of the settings and/or switch commands correctly.

all settings are automatic jeff , apart from the on-demand scan scheduler.

it uses the windows vista one instead, and offers alot more options than a standard antivirus scheduler.

i think it should be put on the website at the very least :)

the scheduler picture has been removed from the final release (for vista anyway... this i know), so take a look at windows vista scheduler, as drweb uses that. (screenshot posted above)
