Does ReadyBoost work?

For performance, getting more memory would be better, but usb drives are cheaper so I was curious.

Also does anyone know of any chart of compatible usb flash drives other than this one?

I don't remember where I read it (couple of places, maybe extermetech, maximumpc, etc.) but they said there was virtually no performance difference using ReadyBoost and, as you stated, you are better off putting your money towards RAM.

Tried my 2gig flash and it was incompatible as well.

I think it's used as an extra pagefile so can't really see much benefit in using it as I run with no pagefile anyways with no probs or slowdowns.

Have read about readyboost where some users saw an improvement but most noticed no gains.

Readyboost reportedly not only doesn't speed things up much but may even cause slow downs in some cases:

I guess you have to have extremely small amount of memory, like 256 or 512, to gain anything from readyboost.
It does absolutely nothing with 1 or 2GB RAM. Neither does superfetch.

I have 512MB. How much improvement could I expect with readyboost? Or should I just not bother?
