As I understand this version is not the latest: 2.70.32.

I have update setup to automatic for both virus signature and program component. Still I have version 2.70.32. If i go to Control Center - Update and click "Update now" I get the message my version is up to date, no update necessary.

    Hello

you cannot update from 2.7.32 to higher version this way, because there is no alike PCU available for standard users. You need to download a fresh installation of NOD32 and reinstall. Is there any reason why you want to upgrade from 2.7.32? There are only a cosmetics changes in 2.7.39..we don't recommend it.

    Regards.

    Thanks

I thaught updates were done automatic if I setup to.

2.70.32 works fine to me. No problems. So if 2.70.39 is only a cosmetic change I dont need it.

It's more than a cosmetic change. You can download the latest version and install it over your current version.

    Hello. :)

Is there any technical reason behind this statement? Are there any issues with build 39? It just sounds a bit strange not to recommend the latest version. Actually, according to changelog, there is a vulnerability fix:

For a paid customer, the switch would be easy...

    Cheers.

    EDIT: Ron was quicker...

    Hi

please, this vulnerability is hardly exploitable and if it will be a problem, PCU will be available at download servers immediately.

    Regards

Sorry for "we don't recommend it", bad words...I mean this in not necessary, but you can do it if you wish.

Thanks to all of you :)

I feel safe enough with 2.70.32, but I probably upgrade anyway.

But I still think this should be done automatic when I have set it up to. No big deal.

    Hi

OK, I'm glad that we finally understand each other :). Automatic PCU upgrade is in some way risk itself (because components of nod are changed) and it can cause unexpected error's or problem's...considering this, PCU aren't available always when new version is released, especially if only a small change was made.

Out of curiosity, how would someone who visits these forums infrequently know to upgrade the application? Shouldn't the app provide some form of notification?

Is there a mailing list for NOD32 that would send automatic notification of an upgrade?

The application provides notification and upgrades to newer versions when ESET release a PCU . Although v 2.70.39 fixes vulnerabilities , it is still a minor change and because of many reasons , it cannot be released automatically . If a vulnerability is in the wild ESET will immediately release an update (automatic update) .

Most important in your NOD32 is the first three numbers 2.70.xx

If a corporate client requires mirrored files with v. 2.70.39, we can provide him with a special mirror. Just email a request to support[at]eset.com
