I know we're a few days out from 1 June, but I thought it would be helpful to go ahead and get the thread rolling.

    My predictions:
    1. NOD32 will return to Advanced+ status
    2. Kaspersky will receive Advanced+ status if the new heuristics engine is used
    3. Symantec will have another good showing
    4. There will be pages upon pages of analysis here over results within 1/10 of 1% of each other.

I can't comment on any of the others, as I have yet to really mess around with Avira (can't find a working trial for PE Premium, non-suite) and tend to stick to just a few programs. I hope that false positives will be far fewer for everyone, and that scan speeds will continue to increase.

    It isn't

According to AV-Comparative's site there will be a specific future test about Kaspersky new heuristics

A separate test will be performed for Kaspersky 7.0 on June 20 which will tell people how good its heuristic engine is.

Remember this will be the retrospective test and not the on demand. AVG failed while some of the others mentioned only achieved Standard.

I don't have high hopes for the new heuristic engine in KAV. I'd keep an eye on Norman, F-Prot and AVG.
    DrWeb might bring some surprises.
NOD 32, Antivir and BitDefender will continue to perform very well and the madness of Fortinet will be seen :D

Things can sometimes change even in retrospective tests...some changes might be obvious even now if you look at things closely. :)

I dont think IBK will let that Fortinet go over the top and show us Fortinet's proper proactive strength and not the paranoid strength. Of course the false positive test will be interesting. I also wonder if NOD32 wil drop some more. If i recall correctly, 50%+ is advanced+ for the proactive test. I wonder if NOD32 can do it.

i think drweb will be the same as usual for its heuristics,

as its 4.33 thats tested still, i expect it to get advanced, but lowered to standard for false positives in its heuristic detections.

Why not just test the PE Premium Suite? The only difference between it and PE Premium is that the Suite has the firewall added. Just decline to install the firewall. The following link has instructions for obtaining a test key for the PE Premium Suite. You could also just ask Stefan or Patrick when you PM them for a key for just the PE non suite edition.

    Is someone forgetting F-Secure? :)

F-Secure should do better than KIS 6 due to Norman Sandbox I think. :)

Unfortunately my prediction is that the majority of the posts will be about defending their favourite AV or bashing the "evil other AV" instead of constructively analysing the report.:doubt:

isnt the norman sandbox used as a behavoir blocker thou?
is so f-secure will score the same as kaspersky for this test.

You can do a trial of their workstation which is apparently the Premium edition but set up for businesses or go to the Avira Forum and search for the trial version of Antivir Premium Personal.
A simple PM to the people whose names you will find in the link will get you your trial license.
    Enjoy.

I wouldn't get too excited over the heuristics in KAV/KIS. Remember they have strong signature based detection as well as the PDM.

i know but somepeople dont use the PDM so it would be nice to fill some gap.

I think that the Norman Sandbox only works on-demand. The behaviour blocker is developed by F-Secure.

i thought normans sandbox was heuristics aswell as a behaviour blocker, combined with f-secures own heuristics.

Perhaps IBK can put some light on which scanners are used in realtime and which scanners are used on-demand.
    - KAV + extended database (both)
    - Libra, F-Prot's macro/scripts database (both)
    - Pegasus, Norman Sandbox (only on-demand?)
    - Orion Gemini, F-Secure's own heuristics (?)
    - Orion, what is this, F-Secure's own database?
    - DeepGuard, F-Secure's own behaviour analyzer (only realtime)
    - Ad-aware, is it still used?
