The second computer has some hardware that the bootable cd doesn't have the drivers for. Remove any usb devices and substitute standard types for wireless keyboard or mouse if you have those.

I recently has a similar experience using the same version (with UR). It seems as if UR isn't as universal as it could be. I thought the whole purpose of UR was to 'get around' any HAL and boot device differences between the two PC involved, but I guess not.

I don't have any USB devices attached - I saw that post. Good point to make though.
What I have is the image has been created on a Toshiba SatellitePro A100 ED50XC and is being put onto a Toshiba SatellitePro A100 ED20XE. So the first laptop is about 6 months newer than the other, but are otherwise identical. I would think that the Universal Restore would be able to handle two HAL's that should be reasonably close. Wasn't that the whole point? I can't even get ahold of Acronis support since their system doesn't want to send me my password for my account with them. |

Hello Jo Ann and TikiGuy,
Thank you for choosing Acronis Remote Workstation Disk Backup Software. Please try booting with "acpi=off noapic" parameter as it is described in Acronis Help Post. If the issue persists, please collect some information to let us investigate it thoroughly: Please create Linux system information (sysinfo.txt) as it is described in Acronis Help Post. If you're not able to create Linux system information (sysinfo.txt) then please do the following: - Boot your computer from Acronis Bootable Rescue Media and press F11 key when the selection screen advising you to select either "Full", "Safe" or "Boot into Windows" option appears. - After you get the "Linux kernel command line" prompt, remove the word "quiet", click on the OK button and choose "Full Version". When the screen stops scrolling please write down the output information you receive (last 5-10 lines), or use a digital camera to make shots of the output screen. You can use Shift+PgUp and Shift+PgDn keys to scroll the screen manually. Then submit a request for technical support. Attach all the collected files and information to your request along with the step-by-step description of the actions taken before the problem appears and the link to this thread. We will investigate the problem and try to provide you with a solution. Thank you. -- Marat Setdikov
