The makers of SPAMfighter, a somewhat well-known anti-spam outfit, recently launched VIRUSfighter and SPYWAREfighter, which are anti-virus and anti-spyware solutions. Now, VIRUSfighter is based on Norman, actually it is just a rebranded Norman with extra graphics and slightly modified interface.

However, SPYWAREfighter remains shrouded in mystery to me. You can see the website here:

    http://www.spamfighter.com/spywarefighter/

From the features advertised, it *looks* to be a clone of Ewido/AVG Anti-Spyware. However, unlike VIRUSfighter it does not look to be a plain rebrand. It seems that this has a different interface than Ewido.

SPYWAREfighter costs $29 for 1 year, with not much info revealed about renewals. However, this could be potentially great news for those people who no longer like AVG Anti-Spyware due to update issues and other things.

So, has anyone tried this one out?

No offense but the picture on the upper right corner looks a bit like a rouge product.

Spywarefighter is not rogue. It is made inhouse by russians, and based on Ewido/AVG rules and signatures.

    I am Danish too ;) .

Tried it when it was in beta. Not many features then.

I am not shure if it`s only a GUI makeover.

Thanks for the heads up. I've been a big fan of SPAMfighter for years, so I'll try this new anti-spyware app on some infected pc's and compare the results against AVGAS. :D

It seems to lack customization options, and when it finishes scanning the results window lacks a lot of info about the malware. You don't get many choices about what to do either. It's been a week or so since I've used it so I will find another hosed machine at the office tomorrow morning and do some additional testing.

no rouge, Spamfighter = MS certified.

Not long to down as the file size is 400kb but took along time to install and then update, good AS with rightclick scanning.

    12/12 on real malware.
